Default sunvisor monitor install question

ALright I looked all over this site, and I am a big fan of the search function. But I cannot find any info on this.

Has anybody installed a set of monitors in the sunvisors of the xB? just looking at the arm that holds the visor into the roof, it looks hard since I do not believe it is hollow. But I would like to know what I will be needing, as all I have right now is the monitor, wires, and power switch. I have a feeling I will be needing a shroud to hold it into place? Well any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

i believe that you would have to run the wires out of the corner of the visopr, not in the support arm.. i thought to do this a while back so that i could use a pressure switch on the visor to turn the monitor on when the visor was down, so that i could use it for a back up camera, but all the monitors i looked at were too heavy for the visor, and it wouldn't stay up when not in use..

Oh right on thanks for the heads up, I was worried about running the wires on the outside, and I might end up trying to mount the monitors up higher more towards the latch so hopefully it won't make it fall down...

They are simply the monitors off of a set of the eBay sunvisors, those things just annoyed me and one didnt fit right, so I took the monitors out and they dont seem overly heavy....

Sorry can't help. Mine replace the old visors.
They are a DVD player and 7 inch screen combo.

Hmm I had fun trying to get it to work, its just that the stock fabric covering the sunvisor is really hard to work with. If I was willing to recover the whole thing with fiberglass or something I'm sure it would have worked out a lot better.

what i was planning to do was run the wires inside the visor, but poke another hole and get a gromet right next to the support bar, where it comes out of the corner of the visor. this way the wires are mostly inside, and are barely visable. the main issue that i had when mocking it up on a seperate visor was the weight... ultimately if you can keep the weight low, it should work out fine like that... if you run the wires inside the visor, and pop them out at the corner of the visor, and use a gromet for clean install, the wires need to only be 1.5 inches to get into the pillar.. my plan was to run them inside the pillar, and over to the rear wiper switch on the stick, so i could power the camera and monitor with the rear wiper switch. once into the pillar, you can run the wires into dash and from there, run them wherever you want...

Just a word of warning, the fabric is really hard to work with and unforgiving, I think it would be very difficult to work with the stock visors without recovering them
