for those with xbox's in their cars...
questions for you. has anyone converted their xbox to run on 12v without the use of an inverter? PS2's are easy to convert but I am having problems with the xbox. next, if you are using an inverter do you have the inverter wired to to work off the key or is it on all the time? I know if you let the xbox sit unplugged for over 2 hours you have to reset the date/time. thanks for your input.

First question. The PS2 runs off of 12v as so does the gamecube. They put in inverters so it will run off the standard wall sockets. From what I hear is that the Xbox is powered by the 112v coming out of the wall.
Second, there are many ways to wire up the up an inverter. You can run it off of the batter or wired to a ignition source easily using a relay or no relay. Warning to wiring it up with the ignition, these game systems do not like being shut down abruptly, meaning they don’t like getting their power shut down without the proper shut down the system uses.
As for the third question, I am not sure about the 2-hour unplug things. From my experience, I had my Xbox unplugged for 3 days with out it losing the time and date on it.

xbox runs off 12v as well...it appears to have a regular atx power supply, but even though the version 1.2 and up have the regular atx power plug, its different, so dont go pluggin in a reg atx into it......now, they do make adapter cables to convert the xbox mobo to a regular atx power supply. As far as my setup is concerend i just use a inverter i hardwired to my second batter that is controled from a switch pannel above my indash monitor, so i can turn it on and off from the cockpit. i believe this is the best way to go, you can even have it wired to a relay off you accessory line to prevent the inverter from being left on or turned on accadentaly when the key is not in the ignition.....if you need any more information on this send me a message and ill help you out

Look for www.tribemods.com and the APACHE MOD. Should solve your problem, or at least give you ideas on how to solve your problem.
