My 9835 has built in crossover for Front, Rear, Sub and a full EQ most of the sound quality comes from tweaking thoes ... the amp is just to fine tune a little more ... If you have a good headunit with crossover and eq you will want to adjust that first and then adjust the amp.
True,
i got your pm and ill send you that info i found tonight. It is a document with descriptions of what each setting is for. It helps and you can tune it for how you would like it.
BTW 80 is good, i retarded out and forgot the 501 is a mono amp for subs usually. One of those days

Yeah its a mono 500watt amp ... You didn't really retard out becasuse also depending on what sub he is running also could be what freq. he needs to set it at ... I know for my Alpine Type-X it is set at 80hz for best sound ... that could change for each sub but 80hz is a good place to start!

don't call anybody. try it out in your car. they can't tell you what the best setting in your car is.

i called diamond and they told me there subs sound best at 60-65hz lpf.. Heres a problem though, the lowest setting on my head unit (alpine 9831) is 80hz, but the amp can go much lower. Also a guy at tweeter told me to turn defeat on and let the amp process everything rather then head unit. When I do this, for some reason i get no subwoofer...

wire it to 2 ohms to maximize your amp, 550w at 2 ohms as opposed to 275w at 4 ohms.
If you dont know how to wire the sub call diamond audio they'll help you out
