you asked for opinions so....i think it's a "cultural" or "regional" thing (no, not racial or ethnic). somehow, in certain areas among certain "car enthusiasts" that look has become an accepted and appreciated modification to a car.
personally, it's "odd" to me. it confuses me as to why one would want to do that to their car. it can't be like, "eww, look at the pretty lights", because the light bulb has been around for over a century and shouldn't really conjure awe any longer.
it is not my taste and invokes a definite "personal" perception of the driver who does that to their car, real or perceived. (i'd also expect to see a folgers can sticking out the back of the car and really fast stickers or at least spinners and a "woot woot" whistle).
i'll put it another way, i have never met anyone who would consider doing that to a car, or who would have a belief that it somehow made the car more appealing. it would be quite the opposite. now, if that is rice...then yeah, "too ricey".
but it is certainly personal taste.

as for the music, the Varad systems, the scanning ones, has a music function. You can choose 40Hz, 80Hz, and 120Hz. I like it. Also with led's ive left it on for a long time. starts normal, so if you forget to turn it off, you wont have to worry about no power.

You can get a nice set of StreetGlow LED underbody lights for about $100-$150 tops. If you want ICELED...well, that's another ball game. Very nice, but very expensive to the tune of about 8 bills. Me, I'd throw on 3 sets of StreetGlow LED's covering every inch for a 3rd of that. They are the Lexus of underbody lighting.

well, the varad kits are 120 for the plain glow, and for scanning 200. i really wouldnt get the 1000 colors one. . . kinda iffy aobut that. But if you do install neons, just make sure you cant see the tubes, because that just makes it worse. I know im saying alot about LED's, but thats one advantage, they only shine down, and you cant see the lights. also the tubes are real small .5"x.7" square.

But Lexus is a re-named toyota with leather interior, so that doesnt say much. I actually have the StreetGlow LED and they will outlast a neon kit by years, but not as bright. Needless to say i love them and can anyone actually define "rice" in terms of cars? Also whats to say rice isnt the coolest thing since slice bread. "Get in where you fit in" - Too Short

There's nothing rice about undercar lighting. When I see people, including myself, watch a Civic or other foreign 4 banger with a fart can muffler go by and pierce their ears they grimace and verbally assault the driver = rice. Every time I see someone checking out a car with lighting they oooh and aaaaah = not rice.
