first pull off the silver ***** on your a/c. next you will see 2 gold screws and take them out. next pull on the top 2 a/c vents and the whole center will pop out. after you got the center face off you will see 2 silver screws on each side of the deck and just take them out and pull the deck foward.

i've taken my radio out an put it back about 8 times now, for different reasons.

without scratching anything and just using 1 phillips screwdriver, i can get the radio out in less than 1 minute. but who wants the stock radio?

Just click the start button, then go to control panel, then add/remove programs, select stock radio. then click remove. Restart your machine and your done.

i took my radio out for different reasons. let me see..

1. to see what kind of connectors were on the back.
2. to install my cupholder lights.
3. to install the XM reciever in my dash behind the radio.
4. to install my pioneer dvd player in place of factory radio.
5. had to remove the dvd player to get to the hideaway module to change from active sub output to passive with an amplifier.
6. took radio out again to see where i could mount the center channel. ended up just putting it on top of the unit temporarily.
7. took radio out, as well as speedometer assy to see if JDM lighting kit will work with USDM model. it will not since our cars use white LEDs for lighting and JDM uses incandescent bulbs.
8. i removed the pioneer dvd unit and installed the stock unit again.

thats about it i think.

hey guys maybe its just me or my car, but I tried taking the radio out today and i got far enough to remove the AC ***** and unscrew the two gold screws behind them, but i couldn't get the center piece to budge when i tried pulling it out by the vents. DO i just need to pull harder? and do the side metal silver pieces come off too or just the center?

Just pull harder, the silver pieces (which are not metal) are attached. Pull out, an then kinda upwards, and it will pop right out.

What do you have to do to get a regular size din aftermarket radio into the little pull down tray below the factory radio?

I would have searched but i couldn't think of the words to describe it. i see alot of people have done it.

the stereo in an xA is the same. You may have to pop the silver pieces on each side of it off, but if i remember correctly, they just snap on.

Ok for the xA its almost the same as the xB in fact the instruction are pretty much exactly the same.
1. Pull on the trim piece that runs down the side of the compartment with the ash tray.
they will pull straight of.
2. Remove the 3 ***** for the ac control.
3. Remove the 2 gold screws from behind the temp and direction *****.
4. Pull straight out on the two air vents pulling on the trim pieces around them, not the vents themselves. This requires alot of force so get a good grip.
5. There is 3 wire connectors on the back of this panel you can disconnect them to get the panel completly out of the way. Dont worry about labels as when you put it back they will only go one way.
6. Remove the screws from the front of the stereo
7. Remove the bracket from both sides of the stereo after it is out of the dash.
8. Depending on the kit you have for your dash install the brackets on the new stereo.
9. Reverse assemble everything
10 Smoke a cigar
11. Drive around and see if you get a ticket for disturbing the peace.
12. Get another ticket for way too dark tint on your windows.
13. Dont show up for court.
14. Dont pay the fine
15. Get pulled over for speeding
16. Go to jail and try to explain why you didnt just pay the ticket.
