Viper Alarm w/Remote start question

I had my alarm/remote start installed in October, and it's still working great.

I don't believe there is a chip in the valet key - it's just a plain ole key that doesn't work on the glove box. I didnt bother with the chip thing cause I really wasnt worried about handing a valet my regular keys - I dont keep anything incriminating or of value in the glove :D That said, two regular keys are enough for me.

had it on my stratus for 2 years never a single problem.....some companies do make cheap remote start systems maybe your friend had one of those. but i can say the viper 791xv never gave me any problems

The valet key definitely has a chip in it. The scions all require a chip to start the car. There would be no point in having the regular keys requiring a chip to start the car, yet having a valet key that does not have a chip also being able to start the car. People could just copy your valet key, and viola! One easily stolen Scion.
