Default it worked : ) [OBD virtual dash]

posted a question about OBD a while back but got no love so I went ahead and took a chance...good thing it worked

MAIN CONTROL:
shows digital value for SPEED;RPM;THROTTLE LOAD;ENGINE LOAD;TEMP etc. also shows intake's pressure; air temp and air flow

O2 SENSOR:
plots on board test for current O2 sensors

SHOWS STATUS/SUPPORTED OF CONTINOUS/NON-CONTINOUS ON BOARD MONITORING:

FREEZE FRAME:

FINALLY VIRTUAL DASH:
and the cool factor shows SPEED; RPM; TEMP; LOAD; intake TEMP, LOAD, and PRESSURE; SHORT and LONG TERM FUE TRIMS w/ 2 banks each; FUEL pressure psi; THROTTLE POSITION; TIMING ADVANCE

BTW there's more to play with with this thing if you know what you're doing ( which I don't ) ....I got the dash workin' and that's all I really care about. kinda lame I know If anybody wants to do this..invest on a monitor w/ VGA port ( mine has good 'ol RCA ports) ...hack a flat panel if u have too.. (I wonder where I can force a 15" panel in  )

PEACE

Nice!!

I've got a couple of questions for you

What Software or Hardware is needed to set that up??

Thanks, Dave

very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was looking into doing someting like that myself. was starting to read articles on mp3car, but i don't know enough of OBD to just jump in like you did.

congrats.

i would love to hear how you went about it (parts list, instructions, software). it might help me get my project done.

thanks for giving me hope.

Wow! That is the first and only thing I have ever seen that would inspire me to put a computer in a car.

I like the gauge layout with this app. I have been using Autotap on my PC since I first installed it back in September and haven't fully utilized it to its potential. Just want to know what application is being used?

- one end plugs in to your OBD bus and the other to the PC's serial port..if your PC doesn't have a serial port 'm sure there are adaptors that would suit your needs
- software is dependent on the interface you're getting I believe..'m not sure if you can mix and match software and interface
- 'm a newbie at best at this, I just took a chance so for the technical aspect check the sites posted by SCIFIRE and the OBDII discussion forum in mp3car.com...tons of information ( advice ) don't call the dealerships and scion.com hotline and ask for info 'coz they don't know a thing about this..trust me i tried..unless u get lucky
- and yes it does more than just the virtual dash , would be very good for all you engine tuners out there....

BTW sorry for the "no love comment" .... 'm just emotional like that

PEACE

that'll be perfect...if it was me I would hack that thing and glass it somehow, somewhere and make it car PC specific use. I would even go for a 17"..I will be doing this..just don't know when yet , I think I found a spot for it too

'browsing 'round eBay for a regular flat panel but if u're trying to get rid of your monitor by any chance ( since it's just laying around ), i'll prove it to you that it's not too big for this

PEACE

This is simply monitoring correct? You can't change any values right? I think Blitz has something very similar to this but not with that big of a display.
