Default Xbox/DVD Player in my xA

Hey all! I've been thinking about putting a modded Xbox running XBMC inside of my xA. Right now, I definitly want to mount the thing under my front seat with a power inverter and two wireless controllers and basically run all games/etc off of the hard drive in it. As for a head unit, I just need something with a foldout 6-7" LCD and a built in DVD/CD player. I've been looking at the Jensen VM940 Here: (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6Zoqpaz...=110VM9410#Tab)

Only thing is, I don't want to buy garbage. Are there any other $600 units that might fit my application better? I'm looking to run my music off of MP3 CDs and maybe try running the music off of an AUX RCA input with my iPod. I really only need one video input for the box so I can play my roms, etc. Movies will be played off of the hard drive as well as discs in the HU.

Also, as for running power to the box, I don't want to see any 12v plug coming out of the dash board, how can I go about relocating a 12v receptacle under the driver's seat for the power inverter?

Thanks very much for any help as it is GREATLY appreciated since this is something that I've wanted to have done for a long time.

EDIT: Also, will a double din unit fit in without any trouble? I've also been looking at the Jensen VM9020TS at Circuit City for $699. (http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/s...14436&langId=-)

Normally i tell people to not buy Jensen (unless it's there mobile video stuff). But since there single-din flip out and double din screens have come out they have impressed me abit with the quality pic on them. So it would be worth giving these a try, a little hard to use some times, but have lots of features. If you dont have to have them know and can save more money go with a better brand name, but if not just get a protection plan on them so if anything ever goes wrong with them you can have them repaired or maybe even swapped out. You should have no problems fitting the double-din in your xA just need to reuse the factory vrackets and Metrs makes a kit that has two side fillers for the gaps model # 95-8202. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

Thanks a lot for the info! I didn't know about that kit, so I'll definitly pick that up now. As for the HU, I found the Panasonic CQ-VD6503U all over eBay for about $650. They have the same one at Circuit City for $999. Looks like a good deal, IMO.

Yeah that Panasonic is brand new, havent got to mess with it yet. But Panasonic makes a overall great product and would be a good choice.

I DEFINITLY like the look and brand name of the Panny over the Jensen. So that aside, how can I go about putting a 12v standard car power receptacle for a power inverter underneath my driver's seat without anyone seeing any wires. I've wired up a few amps/subs/systems before with no problems, but I'm still learning a lot about the entire electrical systems. I'm great at running and routing wires, but just need some direction as to where I can tap off from to get the power down there.

Oh btw, the only metra kit I could find has the model # 99-8209. Is this the same kit? Also, since all I need is the gap spacers, will this Scion Kit from Crutchfield work? It has the spacer flaps, too. (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-0toAlkS...0&I=003TOYK969)

Thanks again for all the help!

How big an inverter are you going to run, if its a small one then you can just run it off a big ignition wire, if its a bigger one then your gonna need to run it of the battery. You shouldnt have any problems hiding the wires and putting it under your seat. I have a huge 5-channel under my seat, with no problems and you cant see a single wire. Let me know if you need more help.

Well, the Xbox power supply draws about 90-100w, so I'm gonna go a little higher than that, probably around 120-140w or so.

To be on the safe side i would run a 8-10 guage power wire to your battery, this way you dont have to worry about poping any ignition fuses and causeing problems with car.

So basically, run a 10 gauge cable straight to the battery, pop it through the firewall, put an inline 25A fuse in, and run it into a female recaptacle for the Xbox?

You can say that again that is just plain stealing from the customer, i wondered why the price was so cheap. I'll see if i can find another source for the dash kit and let you know.

Maybe if you call up and let them know. It says you can call and order the kit. It's probably just a misentry into their inventory system. It was probably supposed to be .50 lbs.
