Quick ? with your ES struts do you have positive or negitive camber when down?
I to have heared the popping noise. The XB I recently bought was already set up.
ES strus in front, so is positive camber normal. Any info would be great.

Camber with the first design Easy Street struts is positive (even at a ride height of only minus 2" or so...not sure about at factory ride height tho) it should be slightly negative at ride height. Adjustment requires camber adjusting bolts or modification of the strut lower mounting holes etc to achieve proper camber.

I just received the second design Easy Street struts yesterday to replace my noisy, defective first design ones. The upper strut mount is totally different than before and appears to incoprorate a much beefier anti clunk/ratttle bushing. The bottom of the new struts has elongated upper bolt holes allowing adjustment of the camber without adjusting bolts. I will not have time to install the new struts till next weekend...am curious to see how they ride.

received my new setup from Jeremy after warranty exchange just last week. These new ones not only dont make the clunk, but they are sooooooo much smoother. I was so happy that these were under warranty. I recommend these to anyone out there looking at what front setup to go with. When I had the old ones, I wasnt so sure. Def props for the redesign.

I installed my replacement struts last night, The mounting hardware is total BS garbage (should not use nuts and bolts (cheapy hardware also) to install the top of the struts, should be studs on the struts as per normal). The damper adjustments are poor as they were in the last version (9 position detents are not distinct...I am not sure that my left strut has more than 6 positions). They do no clunk, they certainly ride better, they do go higher. The new built in camber adjustment in the lower sturts is insufficient. Adjusting camber fully negative at my ride height still results in an out of spec positive adjustment (at factory ride height they may be ok, but at a 2.5-3" drop they do not allow enough adjustment), have camber adjusting bolts available.

Personally I would not mind paying a little bit more cash for a truely high quality part. I guess either I am in the minority or many manufacturers simply do not care about providing a truely excellent part:/ My 2 cents.

And here I thought airlift had turned over a new leaf.

Yeah. The struts seem to work well. The ride is excellent. Better than factory IMO (factory was a bit stiff and jouncy to me). It is too bad they did not go the extra 5% to include at least some decent fastners.

terrible_ted - talk to jeremy at airlift. i actually drove up to michigan so they could take a look at their new design on my box and fix what problems i encountered! they also took care of me in 2 days and the new "new struts" should be heading out the door shortly!

wellI am going to be pulling mine off this weekend prob, to send back to get the new ones under warranty(thanx Spider13).
so when I get my new ones, I will be sure to update. I have heard and seen that they do go up higher(don't care really), but they also don't go as low as the old ones. that the old ones, would sit the axles on the frame, but the new ones don't. so I will have to wait and see how that works out.

I had talked to them about this issue, and they ASSURED me that the camber issue would be taken care of by the elongated hole. ugh. I told jeremy on the phone that even with ksport camber plates, they were adjusted in as far as they would go, and the alignment tech said they still were a bit off. I am with you man.. the clunking is what really annoyed me.. but i just cant live with the positive camber.

sigh..

gothbox - whaddya mean the "other site"? i share equal amount of love on both but i cant figure out nor had the time to put pics on scionlife (its was easier for me at the time to put pics on clubxb)....but j/k nonetheless.

munky - heres what i know: the newest struts were designed with a larger bag and the camber brackets on the bottom were to long/far out for me to fit a 18x7.5 38 offset on toyo tires. i was rubbin bag so what they did is make a shorter/skinnier camber bracket which that gave me a little bit more room, but the only solution they found was to put on a smaller diameter bag (something like .25 - .5") on and everything fit like a glove. no more rubbing and the front feels so much more solid than on the 1st gen struts. not to mention the new strut mount works wonders and no more clunking.....i just cant go as low as on the 1st gen struts (see pics above). hope this helped

I got camber to -1/2 a degree. We used the Airlift struts as supplied and also used a camber adjusting bolt in each lower mount hole. It would not give us any more negative than that without further modification. I may radius the mount holes a bit to get a bit more close to spec a my ride height.
