oversteer is where the rear tires lose grip before the front tires when cornering--rotating the rear of the vehicle outwards
sway bars are a band-aid for improper spring rates--not necessary!

The xB has understeer from the factory. Many cars come with understeer from the factory due to the fact that car makers dont want to sell "tail happy" cars to consumers.
The aftermarket enthusiast looking for better handling will upgrade his sways to do away with the understeer incurred by say an xB with a set of aftermarket springs.
The xB comes with a factory front sway and it does have a bar in the rear to stiffen the rear swingarm since its one piece and not indepent suspension. The rear end though, as stated already is soft causing the car to create understeer.
Progress offers a rear sway bar that is considered to be the stiffest among aftermarket offerings for the xB and people have raved about its performance coupled with the stock from bar.
Hotchkis offers a front and rear set up for the xB that people have not really hyped up that much.
I ran a set of Hotchkis sways on my 02 Celica and I enjoyed them alot. The front bar was adjustable. This was a good setup for that car but the Celica also came with rear sways from the factory.
There are some members who have used the Hotchkis front bar with the Progress rear and said that its awesome. I may try this combo when I decide to get sways.
