plain and simple don't cut or heat the springs just buy lowering springs.

Another person a few weeks ago had the same question....this was my response:

You should NEVER cut or heat your springs. If you can buy a brand new car, you can buy a set of springs. If you cut your springs, it is doubtful you will ever be able to get all of them the exact same height. Plus, if you screw something up, you are SOL and will have to buy new springs anyway. Please, for your own sake, do it the right way and buy new springs, they aren't that expensive.

If you want to cut your springs than do it.
I cut mine and with shorter stuts and shocks got the lowness that I wanted b/c I don't have the money for airbags right now.

ghetto. Spend 150 dollars on a nice set of springs like the tanabedf210 or goldlines.

George_da_2nd asked about how much for springs and install. $150 for springs and what is fair for installation? Im sure the labor varies for geograghy, but the dealer shoud charge the same no matter where you live?

In principle there's nothing wrong with cutting the springs for a mild drop. The problem is with the rear spring because of the tapered ends. If you cut it, it won't seat properly.

Your "musslecar" friends are also idiots.

When I had the back of the xA baged and was waiting on the front air struts I had the front cut. I did not do this but the guy I got my rear setup had cut them. I didn't want to buy springs for the front just for 2 weeks so I rolled with the front cut springs. Trust me you do not want to cut your springs. It rides like sh*t but it's your car if you want to cut them go right ahead and cut away. I had a set of springs put on the xB and a local shop charged me $60.00 but the guy was a friend and said he would have charged more if he knew it was that much pain. Most shops charge from 35per hr to 85 should take a shop no longer than 2 hrs. Hope this answers your question and not everyone on SL is a butthole

Sorry they were baggin' on ya. Have you thought about using spring clamps to bring it down an inch? I used them for awhile and they work fine. The ride stays the same and you can lower it about an inch for like 30 bucks. You'll need a pair for each spring.

sry i lied i love this site too much, and i will keep posting here from the grave. I was at the dealership today and the service person said that the trd spring would be stiffer than the stock springs and that i wouldnt be happy with the ride. And i told him it wasnt about the ride, i was after a look. Dang am i to old to be kewl? Anyway i ordered the spoiler and it should b n tomarrow and installed friday. I have the coolest service tech he installed my factory KE alarm for 375 and the spoiler with install is 330 and i have $40 coupon im hoping to slip in. I know this is suspension and handling but im so happy i had to babble on =) still looking for the drop
