Default Dont xA and xB use the same springs?

OK I called this place to install my springs for my xA and they told me the labor might take longer because none of their techs have ever installed springs on an xA before, but they do have plenty of experience installing them on an xB.

Don't the xA and xB have the same suspension/spring setup? They shouldn't have problems with it, that sounds kinda fishy to me

Well, im not completely sure to be honest with you.

On one hand, i know a few coilover sets for the Xb will NOT work with the Xa. Especially the JDM springs/coils for the Bb. Bb kits will work with the Xb no problem (suspension wise)

Another note, is i've heard some lowering springs for the xb will work with an xa. Im not completely sure about why some will and some wont work.

The shop is probably saying that to cover up incase it does take them a little longer. Although the xb and xa are very similar, they are different cars. Because they have no experience working with the Xa, they probably don't know how the Xa is set up. Once they get in there, they should have no problem at all. However, they will tell you it might take a little longer because they want to lay it all out on the table so you, as the customer doesn't get upset. I wouldn't say its fishy sounding, but logical. Especially from a business standpoint.

Good luck!

the springs will fit but the spring rates are different. An xA spring on a xB will seem to bounce and not be as nice a ride. Thers some big word for the difference but i dont know it.

basically any xB setup will work on an xa and vice versa , the geometry is the same onbly diff is a higher spring rate on xb's giving a stiffer , "sportier" feel , aftermarket springs are more or less designed stiffer than xB springs so.... on an xa it will be a bit boucy and stiff but will handle quite well.

oh and all those xB/bb only coilovers work just as well on an xa but the drop listings change. not as much drop on an xa.
