HELP! EMERGENCY! FRONT AXLE HELP!
Hey guys, havent written here in a lon g while....well i was swapping back to stock springs....oh its a pain....
so i was trying to put the right front strut on my '04 xb and i pulled the arm toward me (away from engine) since is swings around and im trying to put the strut on the mount....then when i go to slide the arm to the strut....ITS STUCK OUT! its totally stuck tilted like the bottom of the tires would be tcking under the car...
looks and feels as though the axle from the center slipped out or something and cant get back into its gear? ANYBODY HELP!! i would greatly appreciate it..... i need to fix this asap...daily driver..
thanks guys

Basically you CV boot poped off?
no worries, just make sure its nice and greased up
for now, and put a zip tie on it till you can get it fixed
you can drive like that with no prob.
Wait was it the one attached to the wheel mount,
or the one attached farther towards the inside of the
car?

that's the way it goes. with the corner off the ground, that whole assembly is supported by the strut. with the strut out of place, the assembly swings down. when it does swing, you have to be careful to let it down easily, or you risk damage to the CV. I ran into the same issue when doing my springs, and couldn't get the strut to line up for the life of me. don't force it, just wiggle it gently back and forth, and it should go back on.
