Default How much can i drop my car w/out issues..

Ok i got 18" rims w/ 225 40 r18 tires... I was thinkin 1.5 drop .. Also what is a good lowering spring to put on... I dont want it to rub on fenders when i turn... as it is it rubs on inside a lil bit .... i just dont want tons of issues while driving ... bumps.. turning .. etc...

Damn, that's already a bad sign...you've got the wrong offset - what are the specs?

The more you lower it the worse it's going to get on the inside...

He's right... I have 225/40/18's and they just slightly rubbed at full lock. Nothing to worry about. THEN, I messed around and did a 1.6" drop on Hotchkis springs, and now the rubbing is worse. It looks damn good, with no wheel gap, but I pretty much chewed up all the plastic in the inner fender wells, right down to the bare metal.

Needless to say, my next set of tires will be slimmer.

ok so if i got a thinner tire like 215 or something like that then drop it .. i should be in good shape?? .. or if i kept this tire on and dropped it it would rub on turns only or all around??? im more concerned about just driving and rubbing ...

I would say 215/40/18s are cool. But I haven't tried them yet...

It still depends on how much you decide to drop it.

Well i have 215/40 18"x7.5 rims with goldlines. The only rubbing i get is when i have my steering wheel at full turn. Its really not that bad at all... the ride is very comfortable... as for 225 i hear of so many problems with rubbing issues....

i was thinking about keeping my 225 40 r18 tires and dropping it with TEIN 1.7 front and 1.5 back ... im assuming my only problem would be when i turn and if i go over a bump fast ... am i right ??

Good to know guys thanks, I was going to Eibach sportline with the 2" drop, I got 215/40 on 18" rims. I guess I'm going to have to go with coil overs.

god those are huge tires. i'd get 18x7 rims and get 215/35/18 tires and then u can drop 3 inch pretty easily.

I think that it is already low enough. I don't understand why you would want to lower it anymore. Then you would just have problems with bumps in the road.

Actually IMO it will ride better then stock and the bumps in the road are better absorbed, depending on the type of spring chosen.
