thats what i always thaught was weird about the fender flares.
they always say that it will help you fit larger wheels and tires, but (like you said) if you rub without the flares you "will" rub with them.
i would guess the only real way to do it is to cut the stock fender and the flares and then mold them into the fender.

i know thats a bit extreem and alot of people dont want to do it.
heres a pic of a friend of mines TC with a wide body kit.
this is what he did, so the stock fenders were cut way back.

Hello Everyone,
I have done some research and still can seem to find what tire I should run I have my xB lowered 2" w/eibach springs and I just got fender flares and bought 501's 16x8 +15 offset.so i am at a loss here i am not sure to run 195/45/16, 195/50/16, 205/40/16 or 205/40/16 i see Big_hungry is running 195/45/16. i dont want to rub so if i have to i will space out the fender.

Thanks for everyones time

ive got the 501's 16x8 + 15 offset with a large drop and the only rubbing problems i had was in the rear.
i run falken 912 195/50/16 because its as close to the same diamiter as the stock tire so my speedo isnt off to much.
ive got -3 camber in the rear and my rear fenders are rolled, so i no longer have any rubbing problems, ever.
i don't have any problems with the front, never did
