Default I put on lowering springs but.....

yah i put on my lowering springs and my dad is ____ed. He wants me to put on the oem springs back on. But i love the feel of the tight suspension of the springtech springs. Is there any way i can raise the car so my dad thinks the oem's are in but still have the tight suspension feel. also is there then a way i can lower it again when he is not around? let me know

Hmmm what you ask for is hard unless you wanna change springs every 3 days. Air suspension or adjustable coil overs might be an answer...but would he be likely to notice the new coil over struts, air bags, air tanks, and compressor?? My XB handles so much better than stock after I installed my 2" drop Goldlines today that if yours is similar I would tell you dad that the factory handles poorly by comparison. Therefore the car is safer with the new springs. What is his beef against lowering?? As long as the tires dont hit, the center of gravity is lower, the roll center is lower, resulting in a better handling car. (The Goldlines also greatly smoothed out the factory choppy ride some,,,the van is less twitchy for me on uneven roads...Certainly safer) I can't speak for the springs you installed....Some aftermarket springs suck.....but if the results are even 1/2 the improvement I got with these then he is being silly.

yah I no but i gave him all that but he doesnt like the "idea" of me wasting money on my car. Is there anytype of spacer or something i could put in? oh yah he also thinks that i wont be able to put chains on when i go up in the winter. which is probably true

Well the springs he has are only a 1.75" drop

You could go TRD or even Tein H-tech but you'd be better off talking to your dad

I would suggest that chains may not be a great idea on even a stock height XB. Tire clearances to the fender wells in the front ar kinda small. Snow cables would be a better choice as they fit tighter on the tires. If you live in a snow area then I would suggest a good set of snow tires in the winter (on the front). You could also use a slightly smaller tire for these allowing more space for chain install if needed. I have lived in snow areas for 1/2 of my nearly 50 years and have used chains a total of once (in California where they require chains in the sierras when it is snowing...stupid imo...as I certainly didnt need them, snow tires and good driving are adequate.

i wouldn't suggest chains either a dedicated snow is best. if you've ever seen the damage that can happen when they come off while driving its not very nice for the car.

yah i ment cables. i have cables. but they require you to wear the cables going on 395. Since i live in OC and i have a cabin in lake Tahoe i usualy take the drive about 10-11 times during the winter. plus my cabin is still 20 minintues away from the slopes so i need to be able to drive up a 3000 foot in like 12 miles so chains are required alot. So you think cables are bad for the scion? even with stock suspension

Suck it up and tell your pop that this is the way you like your car...........first I would try the cables on your car......if they fit with no issues then he should have no problem with what you do........besides if your dad cared soo much about what you are driving he should have guided you towards something 4x4 so you would'nt have any issues in the snow.........Also spending money on a car is much better than wasting money on girls or just blowing it on clothes or going out all the time........tell him hey I could spend my money on drugs or alcohol......spending money on cars doesn't seem soo bad after putting it in that light.........sorry just blowing off some steam about overbearing parents........just glad my parents weren't like that

We all "waste" money on things others find frivolous. Many here at work will spend anything to go to UK games if they are in the Sweet 16 or better. You'd have to pay me WELL to go. LOL

My springs make the car handle better on ramps/curves. Tell him it is a looks thing but it is also a handling improvement.

If you father is helping you pay for the car you might have to listen to him. If you are paying that let him know that and its your car.

tell him to get over it.

you can still put chains on anything less than a 2.5 drop.

You've already bought the springs and installed them. Taking them back off would be the waste of money.
