Insurance Lowered
I lowered my car about 6 months ago. Just recently my insurance company sent me a letter saying they were going to drop me starting in May. I called and they said because my car is lowered. I explained that this was an option from teh dealer and he was like well you didn't get it from the dealer.
I have Nationwide.
Just curious if others have run into this issue or not. This is a first for me. And they are judging this based on a photo I sent them of my car. Which is also odd to me cause I have never been asked for a photo of my car before until recently.

That was basically my reaction. I was ready to blow up on the guy on the phone but I realize its not his fault. He said he wouldn't worry about it but that easy coming from him. Not his car.
I just have never heard of this. They didn't even give me a warning or anything. Just said as of May turn your plates in here and we are dropping you.

nope didn't report it. That was my first question. How do you konw its lowered. I sent a picture of the car so I assume that is what they are basing their info on.
I am baffled. Im waiting to hear back from the guy now to see what he finds out.

Just shop around and beat them to the punch if they don't like your money. If anything, being lower helps make it safer. Less likely to overturn.
Try Geico or Progressive. They don't descriminate against mods.

MOST insurance companies have (written in teh small print) clauses saying that modifying the car as far as speed parts , suspension and many other things will void it. or can void it.
AAA holm's , AAA

Darren is absolutely right. I have probably shopped more insurance companies than anyone on this board. Chances are most people on here with modified cars are at risk of not being covered in case of an incident. I would say a rough estimat of 9 out of 10 insurance companies have clauses in their contracts that modifications negate coverage. And most specifically mention modifications to suspension.
Last time I checked around Progressive had the best deal going. They typically allow suspension modifications in either direction up to 3". That is why I chose them when I had my truck. And I still have them today. Even my wife who works in insurance has switched to Progressive from Farmers. Better coverage, at a much lower rate.
I woudl say shop around, and don't be scared to ask questions. Find an agent, or insurance company that will work FOR YOU. When you find that company, tell Nationwide to shove it.

I recently switched to GEICO. When I did I told them my car was heavily modified, and they said that was fine. They even offered to cover things with out a receipt if I send them pictures before I make a claim. 10k in extra coverage to cover the mods was only like 30 a month as well.

here is the new issuse more companies are offering accessories as upgraded oem replacement parts too. so is it really modified if the dealer is offering it and covering it under warranty or ordered that way.

It seems like different agents and insurance companies will tell you different things regarding coverage of a modified vehicle. The best thing to do is make sure you have it in writing somewhere.

Makes it harder to pick up new coverage if you are currently not covered or have been cancelled in the past. Find new coverage and cancel Nationwide. You should also get a refund of monies for unused policy.
I have Nationwide. I am going to reread the fine print.
Good luck!

You realize that changing the number or size of the passengers inside of a vehicle changes the center of gravity? That portion of their disclaimer will not hold water. Altering the factory suspension might, but not the center of gravity portion.
Also, as long as you have sent in a photo of your vehicle and they sign off on it the visible modifications will be covered along with the rest of the vehicle.
