Default just got my progress tech sway...questions w/ pictures...

hello everyone,

i just got my 06 xb, and "modding" started already. please see pictures below...

this is what i've found in the tech area...

this is what i got from progress tech...

notice the nut plate is different.

my question is, has anyone gotten what i've got? and do you still put the washer in between the plate and rear sub frame? like this?

i have already e-mail these picture to progress tech, just waiting for reply.

thanks,
benjamin

Oh cool, that new nut plate will make the install even easier than it was already. :D Don't sweat it, it will work fine. I doubt you use the washers w/ that plate though.

Looks like could use one washer on each bolt "head". That's the end that will be visible on the very bottom after the install. I think they gave you two extra washers. I'm getting mine sometime this week and I'll be putting a couple of "lock-washers" on the bolt heads to keep them from working loose. Some of the high grade Loc-Tite on the nuts and bolt threads can't hurt either. I'm wondering.... do they specify a torque value for tightening everything????

Thanks

I installed my sway bar this weekend. It's easier to install the rear inside bolt with your tire off. It was trouble some to get the nut plate to align to the bolt with the tire on. Adding the washer inside rear bolt may be a nightmare, if you decide to try it I didn't add that washer, seemed ok.. There are no torque specs to tighten the bolt

Sorry about this 2nd post, but I got the kit in the 1st picture with only 1 rear hole in the nut plate. The 2nd picture kit must be a newer kit/ revised part with 2 holes in the plate, it will look cleaner when assembled inside the raililing. I wish I had those.

still haven't heard from progress tech though.

but the torque specs stated in the instructions are 45 lbs.

Thanks for the torque numbers. I'm gonna put those four flat washers on the bottom. It is stronger that way. Please post when you hear back from Progress. Can't wait to get mine going.

progress tech confirmed today: only use 2 washers per side, toss the two extra washers if you get them like i did.

Did you get it installed yet? I'd love to hear what the difference feels like if you feel like sharing. Thanks

not yet, haven't had the time to do it, but you can read other people's reviews in the "reviews" section, under parts. that's how i ended up buying the prgress tech, and not the hotickis or other brands.

tell you the truth, every second i spend in that section, it makes me want to buy more stuff.

That's a pretty cool idea to drill a second hole on your own. I hope I get the new version with both nuts welded in place. It looks easier to install. I'm also going to Lowe's for lock washer's to put on the head end of the bolt and Loc-Tite to spread on the bolt threads. Probably overkill but that's me.

I installed my Progress two weekends ago and received the old flag nuts with only one hole. Wish I would've gotten the new nuts with two holes because it probably would've made the install a little quicker.

I received my Progress sway Tuesday afternoon and immediately installed it. Time to install about 30-45 minutes just taking it slow. Didn't know about the rear jacking point but once I found that it was easy to jack up and put jack-stands under each side. Perfect height for me to throw the old blanket down and slide right under. Immediately noticed large areas of bare metal under there begging for undercoat or possibly some of the foam spray people use to insulate house walls. Looking to quiet down the notoriously loud rear area soon but that's another project.

Instructions say remove wheels but it's pretty easy to position and mount the bar and bolts with wheels in place. Even plenty of room for torque wrench. Very nice kit, fits well, good finish. Good all around.

As far as drive qualtiy it's everything other posters have mentioned. The car feels like all 4 wheels are gripping in the turns. It amplifies all the good handling qualities of the car. Makes it even better, tighter, more secure feel. Turns are REALLY fun now. Next will be Sensa-Tracs or Koni's to smooth out the bumps.
