Default Lift kits

Has anyone lifted their xb? I live down a steep and bumpy gravel/dirt road. My xb cannot make it down the driveway and I have to park all the way up at the street. I am thinking of lifting the xb so it can come home for the first time.

Does anyone have pics? I am afraid that it will look bad!

replaces your entire suspension setup with airbags. search the forums for air ride, you'll find alot of info.

Oh, and the reason why I said air ride, is that they don't make lift kits for Scion's.

A cheaper way to go, would for you to get taller tires, although that would throw off your speedometer.

Personally, unless it was a big lift it isn't going to look right. And in order to do a big lift you are looking at thousands upon thousands to get it done. And in the end, your car would barely move. However, here are your options as I see it.

Option 1: Custom Static Lift

This will require custom fabrication for both the front and rear. In the front you would need to fabricate a strut spacer, and in the rear you would have to fabricate a spring spacer. 2" spacers should be more than enough. It is going to look funny though. Even if you do get larger tires. The price on this will vary from dirt cheap (cost of materials) if you can do the work yourself, or very expensive if you pay a competent shop to do the work. I could see you spending well over $1000 just to get a couple inches of static lift.

Option 2: Air Suspension

This was mentioned before, and could provide what you are looking for. A very basic system can be pieced together for under $1500. It would allow your car to drop pretty much all the way to the ground, but lift all the way up above stock height to get you home. This probably the most versatile and "on the fly" option available.

Option 3: Coil Overs

Take a look at companies like Progress Tech. These are designed to give you an adjustable drop, but am pretty sure when maxed out they can actually lift your car. Some brands may have the ability to lift, some may not. Figure a minimum of about $700 for decent coil overs. Lower quality versions can be had for less. This option allows you to adjust your height, but you can not adjust it on the fly. You have to get under the car with special tools in order to make the adjustment.

So if you have any specific questions about these options, just post them up. Most of the people here are more than willing to share their opinions and advice.

Thanks! I will check this out for sure.

Does it also quiet the ride and make it a little less bumpy?

Or a low tech solution to your problem would be to set a pair of 2 x 8 on the drive way to offset the angle of the road and driveway, or even remove the lower skirts from the front and rear bumper, sure it may look a bit naked, but you'll get in and out without a problem and could always bolt them back on once you move...
