Default Lowering

Hey, I think I'm going with 18" ( 215/35/18 ) rims. What do you think is better for lowering?

1) TRD 1" Drop
or
2) 2" Drop (You tell me whats the best brand)

It depends on where you are from. I live in Northwest Arkansas and there are hills, bumps, and potholes galore. I would say go with the TRD 1" drop, just to be safe. Many people have said the drop is 1.25 after u break them in. But the decision is yours.

I got the same size wheels and got the Spy Engineering 2" drop springs. Box rides good and looks nicer. Need my bro to borrow his camera so I can post pic.

When you lower it I know it rides better but what about the bumps does it ride stiffer (more bounce)?

tein if u want a nicer ride....spy and goldline have higher spring rates which = harsher ride
im running 18x7.5 with 215/35/18
offset front 45mm offset rear 30mm
using tein s techs

OK.....ummmm
What's the diff, are the Spy's and Goldlines's lower rate than Tein, so that they "ride excellent?" Does that mean they ride more like a Towncar or even close? :?

not quite like a towncar, but not as bumpy as stock.

This is what confuses me. From most opinions, Goldlines are supposed to be the smoothest ride (not stiff), so they must have the lowest spring rate right? But from the specs, Goldlines have pretty high spring rates. :?

spring rates = Front/Rear:
KGMM DR21 = 2.2-3.8/1.1-4.4
KGMM NP21 = 1.7-3/1-3.7
Goldline = 3.3/3.4 (front linear/rear progressive)
Tein S. Tech = 2.6/3.2
Tein H. Tech = 2.3/3.2
Tanabe DF210 = 2.8/3
Tanabe NF210 = 2.1/2.5
spy = ?
eibach = ?
(all are progressive except goldline)

By this info, Tanabes should be the smoothest (least stiff) :?

Maybe there are other factors besides spring rates that determine smoothness?

since they are all progressive, a spring rate number alone is meaningless

the goldlines may have a softer or larger progressive range
or may be quoting the hardest part of their range while others are quoting the softness

who knows!

Ive got linear eibach race springs all around now and it feels fine =)

wussies ;)

the springs may be softer, but longer, so they give the same drop but better bump absorbtion. the stiffer ones, may be shorter, and stiffer ride. progressive springs are the best way to go, soft at first then stiffer at the end.
