i ordred them from roadauto.com . Kragen and Napa wanted $50 a piece for them!! I saved $35 dollars by shopping online! THanks!!

Heck, Sears only wanted $39 each, installed when I got 'em (The Sears autocenter here is nice in that they let you into the service area to kibitz - they even let ME drive the box onto and off the lift, etc. In other words I got to watch them do the job right.)

I got mine, took 15 mins to install both with my brothers help, MUCH better ride, noticable from minute 1!

What a great upgrade for under $70. Very noticable difference in ride and no more bouncyness in the back of the box!! Great Xmas present for the box.!!

i have seen 2 different numbers for these struts....i was wondering what number i needed to use when ordering these if my box was lowered?

i believe they are the 5870s.. the 5987 are for stock suspension, but double check to be sue

i'm rolling on tein h techs and i got the 5987s and i feel almost no difference. hope that helps.

the trd/waydo shocks are stiff compared to the soft as hell monroes.

I have S-tech's and just put a set of the 5987 rear shocks. No bounce. Very smooth. Only $37/each and super easy to install.

The front Monroe's are shorter. Your pic in your thread says it no longer exists so i figured i'll post up mine:



Mine didn't come out too unlevel. Maybe that's cause i have Tanabe's instead of Teins. And i don't have any rubbing with my 18's ... maybe cause i rubbed everything away already when i had air suspension lol

I didn't want to go back through and make my install more "professional" due to the time needed and additional costs. So instead I just wanted to tear all the additional space-consuming stuff out and have my super daily-driver back lol. I'm driving a lot of miles lately to/from home & college and I want to be able to do 85mph 150 mile round trips daily without worrying about what could happen if any one of my suspension parts failed. After switching back to all stock components I can say this for air suspension, my car handled and accelerated much better than stock and with much less "wind-fighting" on the highway.

After driving around with stock height & suspension for a few months and switching to my current setup (back to Tanabe DF210's and now Monroe's all around) I couldn't be happier. I just like being able to hop in the car and drive .. not filling bags and doing a quick check over everything and constantly listening and trying to 'feel' if there's any changes day to day with my suspension. With the bags i had to drop it everytime i parked, so it was a lot of wear and tear. But for the 3-4 months that I had the bags still with all the driving I didn't have any problems.

Installed a pair of Monroe rear shocks in my '97 Mustang today.

WOW! What an improvement. I'll be buying the struts tomorrow!

hmmm on the airbag comments above.....

no need to drop the bags everytime you park.

and are you saying you had less problems fightign wind WITH or WITHOUT bags?


i know my car on hard as nails coilovers till has a hatred towards wind.

less problems with the bags. Stock height trying to do 80 on the highway just feels like too much wind is getting underneath the car and pulling it back like it's going to take off. It doesn't feel that way to me now since i'm lowered again

ok..im have df210s and im thinking of cahnging my read shocks for....what?what will give me a better ride.i need it to be a bit smoother.what should i use?any part numbers?
