What is the number for the fronts? Also is there a 'best' lowering spring to use with these or is the general feedback to leave it on stock springs with the monroes?

They work great with any springs. The only dif is there is another # for the rears with a 2 inch drop or more.

These numbers need to be sticky'd.

Monore Sensa-Trac front strut # 71575 and rear shock # 5987.

Yes the 5987 is the correct part for both the xA and xB. But, if someone asks you what car it's for, don't say xA, as there isn't an official listing for our cars. The 5987 is actually an Echo application.

Enjoy the smoother ride.

Right, Bdiddy, you have to remember you have a strange looking 2002 Echo...

(My 2002 Echo looked oddly like a 2005 xB when I took it in for shocks... )

Ha, that's funny. Thank you for letting me know it is the right part. Are they easy to install? I am going to order them, then my s-tech's. The only work i have done myslef is the exhaust and cold air intake, so are these Monroe's something i would be able to do myself having limited experiance?

I have a pair of 5987s being held for me... $25.99 each. Sweet. Hopefully, it'll stop snowing so I can throw them on.

Just double checking, is this the same part # for both the xA and xB ?

Also, is it a noticable difference in the xA ? From what I've read... it sounds good for the xB.

Thanks in Advance.

Yes, same number for both. And yes it helps both of them to smooth out the ride.

I got mine at Murrays Discount Auto... it's an Illinois chain AFAIK. According to their site, it's owned by the same guys who have Kragen, Schucks and Checker... so if you can find one of those, I'd imagine the price will be similar.
I called several parts stores, all of whom needed to order for 35+ each, Murrays had two in stock for 26. Either give them the part no. or tell them it's for a 2001 Echo.

Wow, Murrays migrated over to Chicago? They originated over in metro Detroit when I was a kid.

Does anyone have the part number handy for the version if you are lowered? I'm rolling on Goldlines and would do anything to soften up the ride a bit. My development is brick paver streets so between there and driving through downtown, you get beat up often.

Thanks!

5870 is the number for the rears if you are 2 inches or more dropped

Does anyone have any opinions on the ride with the 5870s installed? I'm just looking to smooth things out and everyone seems to have the 5987s installed due to less then a 2" drop.

I have a long trip this week so I would like to install them quickly. Any advice is appreciated!!

Which ones should i use for the Eibach Pro drop? It's not a 2 inch but it is a drop and I dont know how long it will be until I can order my Koni yellows. I will put on some of these cheap monroes for now, I just need to know which ones I should use for the time being on the mild drop. Thank you in advance.

The ride will be 100% improved day and night difference. #5987 for under 2 inches of drop and #5870 for 2 inches or more.
