so i have s-tech's they settled to almost 2" like 1.9 or something
so would the monroe rear shocks offer any handling help, or do they just make the ride "smoother"?
also what would the fronts offer? any handling improvement
i dont really mind have a stiff a$$ ride, as long as she handles well, my girl might feal differently though, lol

The SensaTrac rear shocks will not help handling, only the ride. To improve the handling, add a rear sway bar, which makes the car corner with less lean and also makes the steering neutral in hard corners - no over or under steer.
Both the shocks and the sway bar can be installed with all wheels on the ground in the driveway by one person in an hour total.

This is a great thread! I just took a trip to LA and all the bouncing around caused my daughter to get car sick for the first time ever and throw up everywhere. Desperate for a cure I came here first and with any luck this will take care of the rough ride. I drove cross country in a Camaro SS with a stiff suspension and my daughter never got sick, much longer wheel base though.
Just ordered a set of 5987's from advance auto for 31.99 each with free shipping to my door. I can't wait to get them installed.
This thread is a life saver!

I just put in my Monroes today and it was an easy easy install, took around 20 min and I was taking my time. I didn't even have to jack up the car or drive it up on ramps.
Anyway the new shocks made a big difference, the ride is much much better. For $64 total this was a great mod

That's great to hear to solidify my plans for the weekend. Just bought the Monroe's on sale at Adv. Auto for $44 so I am eager to now put them on this weekend.
I'm just hoping I can get under there with my 2" drop. If not, back to Wally World!

When installing these shocks, how much of the shaft did you guys leave sticking out above the nuts? Could you tighten it too much or too little and not have the shock in the right range to be compliant? This is for an Xa if it matters

Tomas, first off thanks for the great advice and info! You made my install virtually painless and it only took about 30 minutes. It took longer to figure out which pieces to pull off of the old shock then to put the new one on!
Do you or anyone else happen to know if the bolt that Monroe gives you is a lock nut? I'm just concerned since the thread is different and I couldn't use the old ones. Might have to make a trip to Home Depot if needed.
I put on the 5870s and they have definitely improved the ride. I have Goldlines and tended to get beat up on longer trips. My commute is an hour each way so ride comfort is a premium for me.
