Monroe Shocks..
#221
When I replaced the rears with Monroes four years ago, the new shocks did not come with rubber dust covers and I had to reuse what was on the original shocks.
I think all these rubber parts (bushings and dust covers) may be Toyota parts rather than shock parts, and will check with the dealer.
EDIT: The plastic dust covers for the shocks, and rubber bump stop bushings for the struts, are shown as Toyota parts at the dealer, which is why they do not come with aftermarket shocks and struts.
EDIT 2: The Monroe SensaTrac shocks and struts came.
The SensaTrac shocks I installed in 2006 had no dust cover and I reused the ones that came on the car. The new SensaTrac shocks have integral steel tube dust covers like regular shocks.
The new SensaTrac struts have no dust covers, and so the pleated rubber ones that came on the car must be reused. Or new ones ordered from the dealer.

Here is a an alternative to Monroe sensa tracs, I went down to Autozone near my house and cross referenced the 5870's and found the Gabriel brand shocks in stock, so I bought them. 25.99 each.
I have a 2006 xA with DF210's and just wanted a little better ride.
The Model number for the Gabriel's is 69713, these are a direct replacement for the Monroe 5870.
If you are keeping the stock height of your xA or xB or just lowering an 1" or less than Gabriels you want are the 69450, these are a direct replacement of the Monroe 5987.
Here is a side by side comparison of the stock rear shock next a new Gabriel 69713 which as you can see is 2" shorter.
And here is a pic of them installed with DF210's

hmm alrite i got those ^^^^ on my rear. i was a noob installing it haha. it's washer and rubber then put it through the hole at the top, then rubber washer and nut =] ride is better but i can't really say how much better since i didn't test it out on the fwy yet. the fronts are still bumpy since i haven't changed those out. but the back feels pretty smooth on decent pavement. it's worth the bang for the buck. got them $25 each.

I'm wondering...
I know shocks don't lower cars bla bla bla. But I have an insanely low box, I'm talking slammed on coilovers wasn't low enough so I modified them to go even lower low.
I blew the tein shocks the night I installed them so I'm on stock shocks in the rear, I have no, I repeat no suspension travel back there, I even bounced on my tow hook testing it and the only travel I have going on back there is the tires.
Since I believe I am sitting on mostly just the shocks in the rear, by installing the 5870's I actually might see a little more of a drop and that would make me quite happy lol.
Though I read several pages and saw that you guys are only talking about mild drops (around 2") what about us that are pushing 6 or 7" of drop? Would the Monroes still be an option for us that go big or go home?

Dane, you'd need custom short shocks for being that low. No matter what regular shocks you'd mount, you'll be riding on the rubber snubbers I'm affraid.

That's what I was afraid of, thinking about finding me some toxic shocks, ran those in some of my minitrucks back in the day and they seemed to hold up nice.
Edit: just looked it up and that's exactly what I'm gonna do.
The Monroe 5870's compressed and extended heights are 14.250" and 23.875"
While the Pro Comp Toxic 411015's compressed and extended heights are 7.25" and 10.5"
On even more of a plus side, Summit Racing has them and I live 5 mins from there so I save on shipping.

was doing my shopping online and found the amazon link that advertised the struts as low as $22. the combo was strut/shock for $ 53. got free shipping too! ad listed all parts as new not used. i was shocked.
