Default Need info on shorter shocks

We just bagged the xB this weekend. The Easy Street info says it will drop another inch in the rear with shorter shocks, but doesn't say which ones to use. Does anyone know which ones I need to get?

Thanks!

I talked about this issue with Easy Street directly. I was told that the data that it will drop an extra inch is erroneous in most cases. I was told that 1/2 inch at most (unless you have undersized tire diameters) is about all you will get. I was told that in most cases the rear wheel oepnings will contact the tires before (or just as) the shock bottom. He told me not to bother changing shocks, that it really wasn't necessary. In practice....our xB is on 215/40/18 tires (about 2/3 of an inch taller than stock) we certainly contact the rear wheel houses before the shock bottoms. Buying shocks would indeed be unnecessary. If you want to see how much more drop you will get simply remove the shocks with the airbags mostly inflated (not fully dont want to over extend stuff since the shocks might limit upward travel) and then drop it and see what you get with no shocks in there. From that you can decide whether it is worth chasing shorter replacements or not. REMEMBER!!! do not unweight the rear suspension with air in the rear bags...that is bad for them and can cause failure....the front struts have no such requirements and can be fully inflated even out of the car with no damage. The rear bag should be fully deflated before lifting its tire from the ground so it can not over extend. (remember this if you should have a flat when out and about as well).

Thanks for the info. The plan is to run 17s on it, so it may make a difference.

Only going to make very much difference I think if your tires are shorter in diameter than stock. Check it out before you spend your hard earned $$

Monroe sensatrac struts are shorter for the fronts, there are two different model numbers for them, one is alot shorter and good for bagged applications.

Monroe has two set ups for rear shocks for the xB...... #5987 and #5870 I believe with bags you want to go with the #5870 casue they are a shorther shock. and they are in the price range of around $35 bucks a shock. I got my 5987's at Napa
