Default NEW shock+struts VS coilovers?

Hey guys and girls!

I need a little help deciding. I am lowered on DF210's right now, and want to go a little bit lower to close some more fender gap with my DR20s. I dont want the ride to suffer much more than it already is.

I can get Monrone 71575 struts and 5870 shocks for about $150 total.
or Progress Coilovers for about $650

What do you think is the best bet?

Thanks for the help!

15" DR20's

Pix in my profile.

I know the struts will lower the car another 1/2" I dont know if that will be enough for the look im going for.

Where did you get the Monroe numbers for the shocks? Currently they do not have one for the xB and people are using the Echo number--but that one you posted does not look right. I was told Monroe is making one for the xB and that it will be out by October.

the 71575 strut is from the 2002 echo, about a 1/2" lower than the OE xB strut. The numbers are from shockwarehouse.com

The struts will indeed lower the front of the box 1/2" but, the shocks will not change the ride height in the rear. If you want drop all the way around, you'd have to do coilovers.

for the rear, i was thinking i would pull out the bottom rubber spacer that the spring sits on, that looks like it would give me about 1/2" in the back too.

Would that cause some obnoxious noises?

Just get coilovers if you can afford it. Money is the only reason I dont have them and Ive looked into MANY suspension setups....

I was in the same boat as you. I just got some new wheels and wanted the drop to be just right. I bit the bullet and went with coilovers. I didn't think I would get the drop I wanted w/o going that route.

i agree, i started out with drop springs and monroes. and i wasnt low enough. now i run on tein basics. if i knew what i know now i would have gone straight to the coilovers. dont spend anymore $ on the drop spring setup. you will not regret going with the coilovers.
