Noise in front strut...only 18xxx miles
So I put H-Techs on my car about 9xxx miles ago and just last night i hit a bump and heard a slapping noise and it now makes that noise everytime I hit a bump. It is the same noise that my camry had when it had about 140xxx miles on it. Did i botch the install? It does not ride any differently at all it is just the noise that worries me. Any help would be awesome!

One possibility:
The top spring perches on the front struts fit over a keyed portion of the damper rod. If it's not seated right, the rod will wallow out the hole in the spring perch and become loose over time. You usually get a knocking sound once this happens.

Just re-tighten the upper center nut under the rubber cap on the top of the strut. Sometimes this nut doesn't get seated right and needs to be retightened shortly after doing a spring install. It happened to me once and it freaked me out but retightened it and took care of the noise.

I had the same problem this week. I tightened the center strut bolt and problem solved. I want to either replace the nut with a nylon lock nut or add a second nut on top to act as a lock nut. Does anyone know the size and thread pitch of the nut? Yeah, I can take it off and go to the store but I'd rather not.
