Default .:Noise from front suspension

ok, here in north florida, we have these NASTAY **** ruts on the sides of the expressways, they are like lines that are 2 feet long every foot or so , like inverted mini speedbumps almost, they look like this, that silly object being the car in motion..haha, the lines on the right being the ruts...

OKAAAY, so im driving to orlando saturday, and i pulled over on the side of the expressway to wait for our peoples, and i hit those bumps somewhat hard....i mean, the right tire went right over them, the left tire rode on em for a hot min as i braked to a full stop....NOW THE QUESTION...i have all morn heard this "thump" from the left suspension, as i ride over decent sized bumps, my question is this, it sounds like the rubber boot on the top of the spring has somehow jimmied out of place? it really sounds like that is what happend...i heard a similar sound on my friends tC that i put the springs on, with the same issue (cept the rubber boot shifted on the reinstall of the strut tower assembly, so im familiar with the situation too...uuuugh...this sux, i put the TRD springs on myself, they have been on for over a year now with ZERO probs, im runnin 18s w 35 series tires (if that helps ya), i guess im posting to ask if u think this was at all a feasable scenario before i go and tear apart the front suspension of the car...bah, ill prolly just let toyota look at it..either way it sux

anyone care to chime in?

I would check the strut nut inside the top hat. I had mnine come loose from all of the rough roads over here also. It had been over a year also, and I used an impact wrech to put it all back together.

Corey,

You're welcome. The spring may also have come unseated if you "caught air" recently and may need to be reseated if it not the strut nut.

yeah , actually thats exactly what i was thinking MIGHT have happend, kinda like the strut was compressed (damper??) after hitting like 100 of those little bumps in a row like i did, might have caused a similar reaction to catching air....uugh i prolly didnt werd that right..lol...but thanks again, ill chk the strut tower bolt when i get off werk, and ill post up in here when i find out what the deal is (i hate posts that dont have a resolution..lol)

thanks again Squirrel for the prompt and knowledgeable answers bro!

as suspected, the spring came unseated from the rubber boot, dealer reseated them , only AFTER giving me ish about installing them myself (until i told them they were on for a year w no noise and i also had another dealer in the area check them and write that they were installed correctly on the ticket!) , so i held my ground, and the dealer fixed that , along with 2 other issues, just wanted to post that npow there is no noise and im happay! thx to all those who replied to my panicked **** post hehe!

lol
