Hmm, I wonder why race cars have camber then instead of being zeroed out?

It must be a styling thing them.

No way having front camber or rear camber will help increase the tire contact patch while dealing w/ cornering, and the handling characteristics of the car. I always thought better handling came with having a good contact patch from the tires.

I guess I was wrong again. Sorry to give out misinformation.
Hopefully you guys notice the sarcasm here. hahahahaha!!

Whoa, SciFly posted this on the Sticky/FAQ:

For example, if you have 1 degree of static negative camber, and the camber moves
3 degrees due to body roll, you end up with 2 degrees of dynamic positive camber.
If you have 3 degrees of static negative camber, you’ll end up with 0 degrees of
dynamic camber – resulting in a larger tire footprint.

camber plates are not a fad! they are styling trend. Bell bottom jeans are a fad. You guys really nees to look into real JDM magazines like Trend Wagon or Option Wagon. God, How can people be so naive? I hope you're kidding by saying this is a fad. How about this? Buying an exhaust system made for your car is a fad. Tacking on a fart can that points at the ground is a trend. No one buys exhaust systems!!

Where is my head I thought this was a scion forum. I should have clarified that the rear camber plates for the scion are not for performance since we only have 108HP and must not race.
As far as other vehicles, I must say that I have seen camber first hand since precisionmuffler.com sponsors the PDQ motorsports honda race car, and watching that thing take the corners with the camber is really something to experience. :D

i agree. i dont think they are a fad. i do however think theyll get overdone now since theyre a lot easier to get with OTG. i have a couple JDM bB bibles i look through. pretty much all of them are cambered. the thing is though, those are the best of the best bBs. theres a lot of cars that dont deserve camber though IMO *including mine probably*

All of the experts can say what they will.

I added camber to make my spirited runs even more spirited. And to help w/ fitting of the 8.5s in the rear helped also.

To each his own, and I have my car set-up for the way I like it to handle.

Oh, and who said it was a "fad"?

I said it was going to be a played out mod because some peeps run mods just because its the newest mod on the market. And some peeps just have to have every single new mod out there.

Styling also falls under a specific theme. Some peeps mix themes and there is not flow.

I notice how some peeps become overnight experts just because a new product is released. I had camber on the front end of both of my Celicas back in 1982/3 when I started running auto-x's.

Just like some experts say beefier front sways are need for FWD cars! Ok...........................................

To each their own. If you want to buy these for style and have the offset to pull it off go for it. If you want to buy these for handling go for it.

I don't have the offset to make it look the way I think it should and don't need the handling so I probably won't be getting a set anytime soon. It is good to see these on the market giving the US more options.

Nothing is overdone so to speak. If that were the case, Drifting is overdone, Import drag racing is overdone, JDM is overdone, HIN is overdone( as well as biased and over priced),

????
we ain't code breakin' noobs; not all of us.. tho my name ain't Sloan D. Uptake

OK, well I ordered the Van plates. When they arrive this week I'll see how soon I can install them and take pics and maybe make a draw bar test before and after if I can find a suitable spring scale.. Am curious to see how much rolling resistance the toed n.c. makes... for this would make a likely indicator of scrub wear to come. Will do this (if I do the testing) on a level, flat concrete floor, either pushing or pulling on the Scion's towing eye bar. Depends on which kind of spring scale I can rustle up.

Oh yeah, silly me. I'm not a mechanic (ie: exhaust technician) so I'm not qualified to say that camber works.

I guess the xA in FL doesn't really auto-x then. The pics must have PS'd then if Scions aren't raced. Oh wait, I was watching a tC auto-x a few runs at Monster Park, but I guess its ok since it has more than 108 hp.

Hmm, I know the Honda CVCC I ran a few auto-x's had no where near 108 hp at the crank in 1984, but it was still raced, and in Solo I also!

just this much farther off topic..excuse my verse:

Kudos, Scott, for knowing that the very finest Strikes
were not made by cobras at snake team bowling nights,
but instead were rolled in sleeves; in T shirts as did Elvis
long before you were a man, or could define a pelvis.
