So I will be lowering my box probably next month..and i am gonna go with tein s.techs..

i have been reading up on the monroes, and it seems like a good cheap mod, but i dont really mind forking over a bit more for some koni sports.

my question is, since these are sport shocks, is it not recommended to do just the rears?

is there anyone here running just rear koni sports and stock fronts?


is that too much of a mismatch?

I have the rear Koni's and S-techs. It will work well, but there is some mismatch in the way the stock front struts and rear Koni shocks dampen. The Koni's are a twin tube design with no pressure. The front strut is a gas pressurised (monotube?) design. What you can notice is that the Koni's have lower compression dampening (but high rebound dampening) which is really good for soaking up bumps. The problem is that the front struts have a different damping characteristic. This makes the ride a little imbalanced from front to rear because the rear is more reactive to bumps. This is a minor issue, but I think it would go away if I had a full set of Koni's. If you have money to spare, the full set would be best.

 

I think you should go with KYB. They are inexpensive and they are the matching shocks and struts. Just pick mines up for 300.00. Very good for inexpensive shocks and struts. I you go with koni and springs, you mind as well add a little more for coilover sets.

 

Really? The GR2 right? I dont know much about KYB, and have been around Konis more...if you or anyone can shed some light about the KYBs (experince, ride) that would be great...

the ride is great. I have eibach sportlines with the kyb. i love it. i rather spend this much versus spending 500 to 600 for koni or tokico. if you do, mines as well go with coilovers. good luck on your choice.

didn't say for that but I ordered a bunch of stuff from them before and the shipping was only $30 (radiator/clutch/brake lines)

 

looks like shipping from there is about 35 bucks..so total for full set is 535. thats the cheapest i have seen it for. good lookin out!

Aren't the OEM shocks KYB's?

 

I bought my koni yellows from LTB, great customer service and the shipping is very fast. Now to mention that these shocks are guaranteed for life.

 

I couldn't recommend the Konis enough - great ride, awesome control, complete adjustability. They're the best!
