real ways to make ride smoother.......
#21
Saicow I've been riding on Pirelli p3000s for about a month 205/60/15 and they actually have been quite loud and way to sensitive to bumps. I swapped them out today actually for 195/60/15 goodyear comfortred. Its like night a day. I really liked the look of the bulkier pirellis but the ride quality seemed to out way my like for the looks. I have 15X8 25/20 offset with the 205/60/15 and there was minimal rubbing. Not sure wheels your going with but i do recommend the goodyear comfortred but not sure if the lesser ride quality was do to the size or the type of tire.

thx so much for the feedback.....why did you go down from the 205-60-15 to the 195-60-15? Because of the rubbing or? I just ordered the Comfortreds 205-60-15 today from tire rack and now you have me concerned as you changed SIZES...not just tire model and make....pls explain - I'd really appreciate it...I have 15 x 6.5 alloys.....

The rubbing really wasn't that much of an issue. When I got the pirellis at discount tire those where the only model they had in stock and I didn't want to wait since I had just received my new wheels that day. When they where mounted and the wheel was turned left or right fully the front wheels slightly rubbed on the back inside of the tire. We cut a small piece of plastic on the inside but it still rubbed slightly. The real issue was the noisiness and stiffness on bumps and uneven roads on the pirellis. Like I said I'm not sure if it was the size or just the pirellis themselves. I can tell you that you really shouldn't have a concern about rubbing with the 205/60 tire size. My wheels are really heavy that added to the weight of the 205/60 may have been the reason for the lack of a comfy ride. I looked for reviews of the model pirellis i had but tirerack only had the p6000 which many people complained about the noise. As of today I can say that the goodyears are a good choice they made a significant improvement on comfort and noise reduction. Hope that helps. I noticed you had h-techs how do you like them? I plan on getting a set.

i have the cusco zero wagon setup and the shocks are a lot softer in dampening then stock, esp. in the rear, which surprised me because they are more performance orientated then stock. i believe the stock spring rate and dampening rate is not matched causing the stiff ride. my box is almost lowered all the way down in the rear but the ride is still smoother then stock, until it bottoms out that is. the shocks are the answer.

ride issues
thx for the detailed reply....my mind is at ease...I am getting very light alloys (14 lbs. @ 15") off e-bay (flat black simple 5 spoke design)....you MUST get the Tein H's - amazing and immediate HUGE difference in ride!!...we will see what the Goodyears and KONI's all around do...can't wait until Monday to feel the difference.....
