Default Shocks and Struts, part numbers please?

so I'd like to replace at least the rear shocks on my 06 xB with 42k on it right now with the Monroe shocks everyone talks about, but am confused on what part number I need/want? I've seen I think 5987 or 5890 or something....

I don't need the Echo ones, just a good stock replacement.

Also, front struts, any recommendations on those too?

Also, should I need these at 42k already? Seems kind of early on the stock springs.

Are you dropped on aftermarket springs?

He said he's on stock springs. The shocks and struts life depends on how it's driven/types of roads, etc. For Monroe Sensa-Tracs, for a stock XB, front struts are #72245, rears are #5601.

Yes, I'm all stock for now.

What are the ones I referred to in my first post? Are they better/worse or need modification to install/use?

Thanks again for your link.

I run on Monroe 5987s for winter when I'm on TRD springs... the 5987s are good for stock - 1.5" drop. The Monroe 5870s are good for a drop greater than 1.5".

The 5987s are for the Echo, and they're probably softer still than the 5601, since the Echo weighs less.

Go with the Monroe 72245 F/5987 R for a nice balanced ride quality. Difference will be night and day over the stock stiff junk they came with. I replaced my stock ones at 30K cause I couldn't stand the ride anymore.
Remember to double nut the upper strut on the front. They love to come loose over time. Don't ask how I know...

What does using 5987 do to the ride compared to the stock 5601?
