Spring Squeaks

Spring Squeaks
I have had my Tanabe DF210's on for over a year now and as many of us know they rear springs must be wrapped to avoid spring "chatter".
The big question here is do I have to keep wrapping the darn things every six months.
Let me explain.
Six months ago I was getting some squaking back there so I took the springs out and made note that the springs settled so much that the compression of them cut through the plastic of the spring wrap any they were now rubbing together causing the noise. So I fixed them and added extra wrap to the springs.
About a month ago, it came back. SO now I have that wonderful squeak again that needs to be taken care of.
Is there anything that I can put on there that is more durable than the plastic wrapping they have or is this just going to be a bi-annual maintainence thing.

you can get it at Advance Auto Parts, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, Etc..
The spring wrap is essentially just the spiral type wire loom for keeping cables and such in neat order.
