Default Springs Springs Springs

yeah Motley Crue is awesome. just got a question about something thats been bugging me. I ordered the Tein S-Tech Springs for xB (which I'm still waiting for) and I'm hoping I dont have to replace Shocks and Struts. Do I? And what are the problems with keeping the old ones, cause I've never really heard of many people, especially on this site, who replaced their springs and "HAD" to replace the shocks and struts. Thanks.

you don;t have to, but it will handle better if you do and its sort of a "while you're doing one, you might as well do the other" type of thing because you have to remove (or at least mostly remove) the struts anyways. It will save time (labor if you are having them installed) if you are going to do the struts in the future anyways.

some people say the stocks wont last 15,000 miles with aftermarket springs. That blows. I would change them if that is true.

Where can u get cheaper shocks?

Yes, from what I have read here on the board. It seems when you lower your car on stock shocks you damage them. With lower springs the shock is always compressed a little, so this adds stress to them. So over time they will go out, like a stock shock would but sooner.

I have been lowered on springs since I got the car and have been on countless road trips! I am now going to replace the shocks after 25,000 miles!! You do not need to replace them if your going to lower. I use my box for work family and road trips and I have to say that I am impressed on how well the struts have held up! I was on eibachs, than goldlines and now RS*R springs. Everytime the struts would still have the same great ride in each set-up.

He's right although shocks/struts are meant to last a long time like almost 50,000 Miles. Not literaly but somewhere like that. Lowering Springs will make your shocks/struts wear out faster but not really fast. Thats why I want TRD Shocks/Struts to go with my Tein S-Techs. TRD offers a lifetime warranty I think.

Side note I have a 1981 Toyota Corolla Station wagon running on factory shocks/struts @ atleast 300,000 Miles. Engine NEVER REBUILT! I've had two trannys give out before the suspensionengine gave out!

Unless your vehicle is equipped with "Performance" dampers from the factory and they have less than 35,000 miles on them, we always recommend replacing your O.E. dampers when installing lowering springs!
