Default tein coilovers basic / SS

im realy considering getting a set of tein basic or SS coilovers
the basics are about $800 and the SS are about $1100.
the SS have ajustable damper.
my qustion is about the Pillowball Upper Mount, what does it do and is it worth it.
ill most likly be gotting the SS because i realy want the damper ajustment.
the Pillowball Upper Mount are en extra $130, i just don't know anything about them.

right now ive got tein s-tech on monro echo shocks/struts, i like the stance and the smooth ride but if i hit a realy hard bump i think i can almost feal the struts bottom out, its not cool at all.

i don't mind spending the $ green $ i just want to make sure im doing the right thing.

The pillow ball mount is made to make the ride better and handle the steering of the coilovers. It is worth the money for the SS coilovers. I had the basics and wished I had spent the extra for the dampening feature.

Yeah it is, there is a plate that bolts onto the frame with the screw neck that the spring sits on. It is all adjustable.

ok yah thats what i needed to see, thats not realy a coilover.
i didn't expect it to be a coilover, i just didn't know how the spring would be ajustable.
thanks for the pic

yup that's how it is... i would say save a little more and get the SS setup... if you do want to go lower don't get the SS-P, although i love the handling with the SS-P's but just wish i could go a little more lower then i would be happy. let us know which one you decide on.

ok so you can go lower with the ss than the ss-p.
right now ive got Tein s-tech with echo struts.
1.7 + .5 front and 1.5 rear.
i dont't realy want to go lower then that if i can help it. i want the camber ajust in the front, the dampner ajustments and the larger shocks & stuts.

the basics and the SS-P just have a few but awesome differences. The basics are exactly what they are basic Coilovers, and the SSP comes with the pillow ball mount and adjustable dampening struts. So you can adjust them for a stiff ride or soft ride. The basics cannot.

i knew most of that
im sure im getting the ss-p
what Ekolu2004 said just threw me off a little. i wasnt shure what he ment by "if you do want to go lower don't get the SS-P"
i realy like the stance i have now, i just want to able to adjust everything and have a solid set up that leves me room for more options down the road like the ajustable camber, dampener, and highth.

anyway, i just wanted to threw it out to the peeps to see what advice you had.

OOOOO,Ok. Yeah you can go lower with any one of those set-ups. Check out the pic again. See how there are two ring screws to adjust the spring. Well, a lot of people take off that bottom ring and just run one screw ring to make the car go lower. I think the SS-P can go lower without that one too.

I know this is an old post but i have a question about the tein ss coilovers.

I just picked up a set of teh tein ss but they did nto come with the pillowball upper monts. So where can I find the pillowball mount? Do I have to order them form Tein directly or can I get them elsewhere?

i got my ss-p's for 750 picked up, one time deal btw lol. i love these things, their a little stiff, but the handle so well. (1=softest-16=hardest) i run mine around 11 or so in the front i think and about 6-7 in the rear, unless im driving people, then about 10 in the rear. they make your suspension so stiff its awesome, i have 195/60r15 tires and most of the movement in my car when stopping or turning is the sidewall lol, when i stop ill kinda jiggleish on my sidewall if you understand what i mean. get the ssp

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Those are technically pillowball mounts, but not the ones that come with the SS-P coilovers.

Matter of fact, they don't even list a mount for the xB/bB on that page. Just an FYI.
