Default Tein H Tech Springs...opinions, pics and ride quality UPDATE

Anybody have Tein H Tech springs on there box? I am looking for a very mild drop (1") that will still ride as good or better than stock. My main concern is comfort with reducing a little fender to wheel gap coming in a close second. Performance is not really a factor for me since I only use my box to commute and haul the kids around. I have had lowered cars in the past (Civics) that always produced whines from the back seat occupants about how there stomachs hurt when we went over any bumps. I plan to couple these with the TRD struts and shocks, so getting feedback from anyone running these with the H Techs would be awesome. Any pics or actual experience would really help a brother out...

I had my H-techs installed by stu from lastlookcustoms, and I have to say that they are probably the best spring for everything you personally are looking for. They do ride nice, but by no means is it a completely smooth ride. Smoother then stock, yes, and the drop will be enough to make you happy if its your second priority. I just got a digital camera yesterday, so when I get a chance I will post some pics up.

^^^Thanks, bro. I'll keep my eyes open for your pics. Trust me, I know that a super smooth ride is not going to happen on such a short wheelbase vehicle, but I don't want it to get any worse than how it rides stock.

I'm running Tein H-techs also. It's a nice drop and a much better ride than stock. I have 17" wheels - what size are you thinking of?

I, too, have the H-tech and they give a very nice ride. Here's some pics of it on my car.

Thanks for the info and link...I'm rolling on 17s right now, I've always had this thing about bigger wheels and no drop being a no-no.

Sweet! Nice and clean. Thanks for the pic and feedback. Looks like H Techs and TRD struts/shocks are in my near future. Now where did I put that credit card....

for the price of the tein h techs and TRD shocks and struts you could spend 200 dollars more and get tein basic coilovers. It will last alot longer, the ride will be alot better. and you can adjust the ride height. They run about 700 bucks. The TRD shocks/struts plus tein springs are gonna put you at like 500 bucks with everything shipped. just something to definatly look into.

not trying to push you away from the mild drop, because I wanted that too, but go with the s-techs the ride is good and you get a better look!

I contimplated the basics too, but I think the minimum drop is only like 1.5" which is lower than I want to go. Plus the front spring rates are higher and my main goal is ride comfort, not handling performance. I do appeciate you taking the time to give me your input though.

dont even waste your time on shocks/struts, its such a minimal drop anyway...I have the H-techs on my car...got them from Stu at Lastlookcustoms.

this is an old pic w/ my 18's

I have 19's now and the wheel gap is minimal.

I have the H springs and I think they are great if your into a mild drop and good ride. I have 17-7 and a 45 tire it rides great....45 size tires also fills the fender gap a lil more check my profile.

I just bought s-techs for my x-a, mostly because everyone on here swears by them. I'll let you know how the ride is once they're installed, but it seems as though H-techs are the best springs for what you want.

If comfort is your priority, you should add Koni's in the rear as well. The H-techs have a pretty strong rear spring (same rate as S-tech's I have) which could use some dampening to keep it in good control

The Koni rear shock is way more comfortable.....Do a before/after and you will see what I mean.

stock springs so so ride quality

after tein s sprigs improved ride quality better handling, road noise increase,no rub on 18" wheels /215/35/18 tires -------- more pro's than con's

Well I finally took the plunge and installed some Tein H-Techs last night. Fronts were a little tougher than the Hondas I am used to doing. Rears are so easy I think my 6 year old daughter could do them! Ride is nice. Smoother than stock, a little more choppy. More compliant if I had to describe it. Drop is just about right, a little higher in the back than I would care for (but I knew that going into it that the rear is less of a drop than the front and the box started out higher in the rear, so I am not complaining). Hopefully they will settle down a little with time. Rear Koni yellow shocks are on the way as soon as Koni gets finished making them. I think there is a national back order on those things!! Thanks to everyone who helped me out in this decision!!
