Thoughts on coilovers?

Teins ride soft and slushy on the xB? If you want handling, I wouldnt bother?
Which model are you talking about? I hear the basics ride a bit soft but the TEIN-SS are supposed to ride killer without sacrificing performance. Plus the electronic dampening controller doesnt suck either.

Most of your JDM coilovers(Trust, HKS, JIC) along with D2 and Ksports have more aggressive spring rates and perform better than what Tein markets to the US. Tein unfortunately does not offer a high performance setup for the xB at a reasonable price. Tein makes more lineups than just the Basic, SS and SSPs for most vehicles. Once you go above SS-Ps you are getting into their real deal race setups which run considerably more and probably wont ride well on the street on many cars.
By the time you spend 1100 bucks on some SS's and another couple hundred on the EDFC you are still without camber plates and you could have bought a set of nicer coilovers. The EDFC is cool but most people that I know that have it barely use it. Usually once their set, its set unless you are really racing the car in which case you would want to go with a more race bred setup than Tein.

I dont think he plans on tracking his xB. Stiff for the track is one thing, but on the streets, it's pointless. The SS's are a good setup if it's just for daily driving or taking an occasional curve every now and then. The coilovers function is in it's name; SS=Super Street. They serve that very purpose. They were made for the streets as well as light track use. They aren't made for circuit racing like the Trust, HKS and JIC's.
So again if you want a decent ride on the streets go SS, if you want stiff as hell, these aren't for you.
