Toyota Echo Shocks and Struts in a xB HELP!
ok so i read somewhere on this forum that people were getting the 2002 Toyota Echo Monroe rear struts for there xB. I found a place thats selling a set of front and rear KTB GR-2 Struts and shocks for a Toyota Echo for a pretty good price. Will the front shocks work on the xB as well? and would this set up be good? Right now im about 2" drop with 16x7 and my car does the "bunny hop" feels like im in a Civic with chopped springs almost. Either im bouncing more then i would like. So would the set up work? or should get different ones made for my car? I dont want to spend to much on it too.....

Correct, Echo rear shocks fit fine, and the Monroe Sensatracs for the Echo work fine, on the xB. The Monroe SensaTrac front struts for the Echo, however, drop the front of an xB 1/2 inch (spring perch is 1/2 inch lower).
For stock spring height, the Sensatrac 5987s are the correct fit in the rear. For shorter springs (lowered xBs), there is no direct correct-fit replacement, but there is another SensaTrac that is sometimes used. Search for the several huge topics on this...

save up and get the TRD shocks/struts. that bouncy ride is because you lowered the car on stock shocks and they blew out. the monroe will do the same thing.
if you want to solve the problem get the TRDs. if you want a quick cheap band aid then get the monroes but be prepared to have to buy new shocks shortly

I have been riding on my monroe struts for about a year now and they are still just fine.
For most people that want to lower ther box the TRD is not enough of a drop, and a lot of people complain the the ride is still too harsh.

springs lower the car not shocks.
the stock shocks are designed to work at a certain height. when you lower the car 2in the shocks are not as effective at dampening the ride, and will blow out very early because of having to work overtime all the time and are getting pounded because they dont get to use the full range of motion they were designed for. put on what you want but unless you get performance shocks this will be a reoccurring problem.

I never said that shocks lower the car, I said that I haven't had a problem with the monroe's blowing out. People have had problems with lowering and stock shocks.
I have had zero problems with my monroe struts, and I have the Koni shocks in back again with no problems.

putting shocks that were desiged for a car that is lighter and also not as low doesnt sound like a good idea.
Robot_Box. Spend the money on a good set of shock and you will be happy. not to mention the car will handel much much better

This has been debated over and over, the difference in weight in the front end of the echo and xb is not that much and for the money you can't find a better deal, not to mention that the TRD products are grossly overpriced and not that great of quality IMO.
If you are looking for a great ride at a great price buy the monroe's.
if you are looking to spend way too much money, but can say I have TRD shocks and struts then buy those.
BTW I have lots and lots of stuff on my car that wasn't made for the xb, but it sure works for me!
notice how the stance is with the monroe's in the front, it get rid of the reverse rake that a lot of people don't like.

And by your logic, "Yournamehere" the Waydo TRD shocks would not be the correct choice for the original poster's application. It was stated that the vehicle had a 2" drop. The TRD shocks and struts were not designed for a 2" drop.
If you want to go cheap, and get a smoother ride, go with Monroe. If you have the bucks to spend, go get Koni (4 position adjustable dampening). I wouldn't waste my money on overpriced TRD shocks and struts.
