Its not a change. Some 05s came out with yokos, some with bridgestones. A dealer told me it seemed pretty much an even mix actually. I would rather have the yokos though. The potenzas are not very good tires. They are ok for a mix of winter/summer in a Z rated tire I guess.. but they dont perform stellar in either category. But then again, I have not tried the yokos either, so I cant say much about them.

I got a 06 last week, came with Bridgestone Potenza tires NOT Yokohoma. Some do come with the Yokahamas, some don't. At this point you are more likely to get Bridgestone tires than Yokohama tires.

My 06 has the yoko's....my concern is past experience in AZ...they don't last long in the heat.

What makes you a loser?
At least you got the right color!!
I've traded out both sets of BStones. Too many reports of people wrecking their cars after hydroplaning...

They should've just given us Pirelli's PZero Nero M/S, they are cheaper per tire and have MUCH better grip. I can't wait until my stock Potenza's wear out so that I can get a set of those.

i drove almost 20K miles with the RE92's. i rotated the tires every 6k miles and when i took off the stock wheels/tires. the treadlife was about half way worn. it should last 30-40k miles before a new set is needed. keep in mind, i had the bridgestones and not the yoko's

I have the Yoko's on my car....just had to have on replaced because of a screw!!!

Anyways, a word of note, those Yokohama's on our tC's are made only for our tC's and no other vehicle.

I've seen way too many posts with people driving like complete idiots and then bragging about it on this forum to believe any hydroplaning stories here had anything to do with their high performance Z rated tires, especially considering a person with bald tires can keep from hydroplaning if they just drive carefully. The consensus seems to be the tires could be more sticky, but that would inevitably mean they wear down and need to be replaced sooner. I don't know about you, but have a problem spending money that could be spent on mortgage, groceries, or a trip to the tropics on a set of tires instead. Bridgestone Potenzas last about twice as long as Pirelli Pzero Neros.

You're probably right, for the most part.
However, after reading many customer reviews of the RE92's on tirerack.com I was concerned that Scion had mounted the wrong tire. Even professional reviewers commented on the performance of the tC suffering due to the tires.

I've never owned a Pirelli tire. Wouldn't own a General or Uniroyal.
Goodyears and Michelins have been my choice.
The Avons I have on the cars now are not quite the best at cornering. They have a little softer ride, something that would make a long trip more bearable. That's what I wanted in a tire for this car. But, then again, I'm not a racer...and these give MAX grip, period...in ALL road conditions.
At the end of the day, I feel more confident now in my vehicles and that's worth more to me than a vacation to the tropics or eating steak for a month... I'm sure you understand.
