Default 17" Offset question ? For you Guru's that know

I am trying to get in on a group buy for wheels, but I need to sell my rims before I can get in. I have been having a tough time selling my 18's & fear I may miss out on the group buy being there are only 5 spots left.

Here is my options for the wheels I want :

17 X 7.5 Offsets - 25 / 35 / 45 / 48

or

17 X 8.5 Offsets - 25 / 35 / 45 / 48 / 50

I am running OTG 10mm. Shims in the rear. I want the wheels to be flush a hell & if I must roll the rear fenders I will.

Thanks all

PS : Just in case the guy holding the group buy happens to see this post. I am just trying to get info if I miss out on the group buy. I want to see what other options I may have in that wheel. I did not find them cheaper or anything nor am I trying to figure out your offset ! If I miss the group buy I still want the wheels & want them to be as close to flush as possible.

Ok, for 17x7.5 your best bet would be +35, +45/48 you will have fitment problems. I had +42 on my Buddy Club 17x7.5s and they fit fine.

For 17x8.5, the best bet is +35 also. BUT, depending on the drop, you may need to either roll your fenders and/or add camber. You may or may not also need a 3mm spacer ring in the back also.

The OTG rear shims will definitely push out the rear wheels.

The following pics are 18 inch wheels 7.5 +38 up front, and 8.5 +35 in the back. Just to give a general idea on look. 2 degrees neg camber up front, 3 degrees neg camber in back.

And 17x7.5 +42 w/ 3 degrees neg camber. No spacers/shims.

HTH.

listen to brad hes the man!

+25 is good for 17 x 7 like my lover souls, but affter 7" you need to step down the offset to +35 or so to accomodate the wider wheel

17x7.5 +25 front
17x8.5 +25 rear with OTG shims

Roll the front and the rear and you will be set!

If you dont want to stagger:

17x8.5 +25 all around with OTG shims in the back. (imho- this is the better setup)

or

17x7.5 +25 all around with OTG shims in the back.

For tire size i would run a 205/40-17 for clerance and a nice STRETCH on either the 7.5 or 8.5.

Oh and you will not need any spacers for the specs i gave you either. Everything will clear fine. Make sure to lower your car enough and you will have a beautiful stance.

Oops, sorry, just re-read and you want flush.

Do what Mark posted. I couldn't go flush cuz I wanted to be lower and have no rubbing.

Hey my 3 favorite xB's on SL.com posted up on my behalf :D

Thanks Brad , Dustin & Mark !!!!

I am currently on Tanabe DF210's so I hope that is low enough to get that killer stance. Like I said I am also using the 10mm. Rear Shims. I want to get the camber plates as well which I know is stackable. Should I stack on this offset or just run one or the other ?

So with the + 25 I will get the look I am after ?

This requires front & rear rolling ?

Who is the rolling expert that wants to school me on the how to LOL ? Anyone up to the challenge ? If not I am sure i can figure it out. I'll just bust a search on here !!!

Thank you guys very much & if there is anything else you feel will help me out, please post up. You guys are awesome

DF210's wont cut it.

+25 will get the fitment you want but you will need to do fair amounts of rolling in the rear to be able to run a OTG camber shims and Spacer shim. If anything just run the Camber shim and not the Spacer shim. You should be fine that way.

Yes you will need front and rear rolling.

Get coilovers!

For fender rolling, do a search there are many topics on that here on SL.

oh yea, get coilovers.

if it's the D2 group buy,
i'm leaning towards 205/40/17
with the 17x8.5, +25offset.

shiz, imma go with Mark's info, haha.

but damn, wonder when they're gonna come in?!

Yup, DF210s aren't low enuff.

If anything, you'll need the TEIN Basics, or air.

As Mark said, rolling is easy and can be found elsewhere here on SL. Just remember to warm the paint slowly so it doesn't crack, and yes I use the wooden bat method also.

I'm still trying to catch up to Mark!

Since you guys are all here...

Could you go +12 rears/+25 fronts for 15x7's with no spacers? I'm thinking about that and a 2" drop for a future xB (the Mrs...)

Not trying to take the less involved approach but if I went with Brad's +35 setup would their be less rolling involved ? I have no fear of attempting new things, but I do like the look of the top pics Brad posted, close to flush & very nicley done IMO. But that is also 18" Would it look the same if I did the staggered in Brads exact offset in the 17" ?

I was actually planning on coilovers or air anyway, but untill I do can I get away with the DF's on either the +35 or the +25 with the camber shims ? What is the downside to the DF's with these setup's ?

Last question air or coilovers running flush ? Even rolled wouldn't is still hit the fenders & rear quarters? Please don't think I am an as$, just trying to learn the same way everyone else did at one time or another. I appreciate your time & efforts on this BTW.

Along with my above questions does anyone have pictures of a 17 x 8.5 with a 205/40 ?
Is this dangerouse ? Will I have trouble getting someone to mount this ?

Thanks
