185/65-15 on stock xb rims?
I apologize in advance for, perhaps, asking a stupid question. But, can I put 185/65-15 on my stock xb rims without any issues? Sorry if I wasted your time. I'm a tire idiot

they will be a little bit larger than your reccomended tire diameter, so your speedo will be off a little bit, and you will probably have more roll (depending on the tire that is). You can do it though. Is there a reason you are replacing your tires with this size? 185/60/15's are abundant. I went with 205/55/15 on my car, for the extra width. When you say stock Scion wheels, are you talking steelies or alloys?

Thanks so much. Steelies is what I'm talkin' 'bout. Abundant? I dunno. The goodyears that are on there are wearing fast (30,000 miles). I don't like 'em. I don't want to change the feel of the ride and can't afford/ don't want new rims. I just wanted to get some good ol' Kumhos. But, they don't make a 180/60-15. I'm really broke right now. Two of the goodyears are too shot for riding around on this winter. I've had Kumhos before, and I thought they were great for the dough. Thanks again.

185/65R15 is the stock tire size for the JDM bB, and work just fine on the stock rims.
The diameter of the 65s as opposed to the 60s will give you about a 3% change in speedometer and odometer.
Stock, from-the-factory, the xB speedo is very optomistic, and the 3% reduction in indicated speed will make the speedo pretty close to "right-on."
The odometer is off in the other direction, and instead of being about 3% low compared to actual distance traveled, it will now be about 6% low. (Just multiply your MPG by 1.06 to correct it.)
There has been a fair amount of discussion on this...

There is much more, just do a search.
Good luck!

Oh! Just had a thought...
If you are going to be replacing the tires two-at-a-time because of cost, please read this information before mounting your tires - it is VERY important for your safety.
Take care,
Tomas

I just ordered 4 Yokohama AVID TRZ in 185/60/15 from Discount tire. They will be $302 out the door after the $30 off coupon on their web site.
There is also a $25 mail in rebate but I don’t know if I can use the coupon and get the rebate. If I can it would be about $277 out the door!
Check the Yokohamas out http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=8 , they are top rated and said to be great in the snow.

'Spensive tires.
(My slightly larger BFGs were $58/ea. - in fact the whole works, new wheels, tires, mounted, balanced, out-the-door, was $612.)
Those Yokos are excellent tires - I used to run 'em, hard, when I had, uh, "another Japanese make."

Hi Tomas, I see you’re a night owl like me.
The $302 is mounted, balanced & stems out-the-door.
$56 per tire is pretty cheap I thought.
By comparison tirerack.com would have cost me about $325 and I would have to bring the tires to the installer.
Can you give a quick 1st hand review of the tire having owned them?
I am most interested in the snow handling.
I am used to owning big American luxury cars, this is my 1st lightweight econo box in many years and I hope the Yokohamas hold the road.
Thanks!

When I had those, my other vehicle was a Land Cruiser, so the Yokos didn't see much nasty weather - the 'Crusher was a lot more fun when things turned ugly or white. :D
For just about everything else, though, I thought they were a very predictable, trustworthy tire. I liked 'em. (Mine were a bit wider though...)

I just got new tires for my xA. The OEM tires were almost down to the wear bars at 45k miles.
I got Falken Ziex-512s in 195/60-15. I found a cheap place online. Discounttirezone.com has that size for $40 each. They are in Massachusetts, so shipping for me was $26. Such a deal.

I miss not having the Discount Tire Direct warehouse here .... don't have to pay for shipping ...
I hit the wear bars on the OEM GY with less than 20k ... If i can fit a 195 65 15 under there... then the 185 65 15 fit beautifully. I am running 185-70-14 as my winter set and they fit fine with no rubbing at all.

The 185's are on and running great. But, you know what was wearing them down? Two, count 'em, both front wheel bearings were bad. This, the toyota dealership figured out, after replacing my transaxle. I got alot of free work done. And, I'm runnin smooth as silk, now. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!
