Default 2005 SCION TC, 1200 miles, BEAD of tires breaks from Rim

Anyone else had this happen.

1200 miles into this car, only mods are TEIN coilovers, took a corner I had always taken faster (this time around 35) and the bead breaks off the rim, damages TONS Of parts. Any input on what to do>

Don't want to discourage you but if you take it to the dealer, they may blame the coilovers for allowing you to take corners faster than what the stock car could handle, creating more stress on the tire, leading to tire failure.

What was the tire pressure? That is not something that just happens. Usually related to improper tire pressure. Your insurance should cover it though if the dealer doesnt.

Well heres the pics
Serverly bent tie rod

Bent lower control arm (front left)

Broke wheel picture 1 (note there is no point of impact ANYWHERE on the rim or tire)

Broke wheel picture 2, took a hard hit o the inside of the tire (once again front left) I was taking a RIGHT hand turn

Sucked the tire RIGHT off the bead, this is what caused the initial problem

DAAAMN! What made all the stuff bend? Did you hit something after your tire seperated?

Yes the tire got sucked to the outside of the wheel, and that yanked me straight into the curb

I don't know man but it looks like a tire wheel fittment or something because you're not the first one that this happens to. I would recommend you TC owners with the stock tires and rims to start _____ing about it(Scion Corp.). Just my 2 cents, but It's your life guys.

Actually it seems the local dealer has now taken a strong interest in this subject and are going to contact Corp. We'll see

hmmm.. i see literlly dozens of cars a day with any number of tire problems. and that looks like a typical curb hit with a failiure.. but if the dealer wants to get involved.. roll with it!

Yeah, my input is make sure you get this all covered under
warranty!!

And thank you for sharing. Isn't this the second time we've
seen this? Or maybe I'm just looking at your post twice.
I don't recall.

I'm glad you made it out OK though....looks like cheap
tires to me.

I saw in another forum by another member posted that he had seen newer tCs with Yokohama tires instead of Bridgestone's. Makes you wonder if there is a problems with Bridgestone tires that Scion is aware about. It would be nice if the dealers would put in a word for the customers on this issue.

Just so you know SCION has taken a BIG interest in this problem. They have given a rental car and are paying for ALL repairs, as well as paying for tow bills associated. There is major concern it seems. I will keep you all updated.

Hope everything works out for you. Just curious did you have the bridgestones or the yokohamas?
