Default 215/45/17 tires

i'm about to order tires on this size. but before i do, i need to ask those who currently or have tried this.
any rubbing? is your xB lowered, if so whats the drop?
my xB is lowered by less than 2" tien s-tech, i just want to make sure i won't have any problem.
i also thought about 205/45, but just asking if i can pull this off on 215.

would also appreciate if theres pics.

thank you so much for the response,

Looks like i will be the first to answer your question.... yes i have the 215/45R17s installed on my xB. I have had them on since about 10 miles on the truck. At first i did have MINOR rubbing issues on the front end on the lower part of the inner plastic fender well turning the wheel full in either direction. Now, 2,400 miles into it, and i dont think i have heard a rub in weeks. I also have the Tein H series wich will give almost the same drop in the xB as your S series. I like the H series, it only dropped the truck about an 1 or so all around, and made for a better ride.

I have pics below in my sig. If your in the Philly area, i can try and get together with you so you can see for yourself. Also, besure to look at my other album while your there, the one from the Scin VIP event a few weeks back. The pics labled #396 are my ride. Enjoy.

I have your setup with S-Techs and Kumho 711 215/45/17s. I get a little rubbing when the steering wheel is turned about 2/3 way. This after the plastic fender liner was trimmed back which was required. If the liner rubs, it ends up distorting getting further in the way of the wheels.

Note, not all XB's or 215/45/17's are exactly alike, so you may not have ant rubbing at all. IMO, the larger 45 series look and ride better so I would use them again even though the tires rub once in a while.

CB,
thanks for the reply. i wish i could see your xb, but i'm in LA. your lava looks really nice.

jomo,
thats the same tire brand i'm looking too(inexpensive). its the kumho ecsta 711 right? where did you bought it from? i got a quote for $319 mounted & balance with all free flats/rotation from americas tire co. but that is 2 weeks ago, i'm still shopping around for a good deal.

i guess i'll get that size then and just trim that lining. i have to wait for my wheels though, its scheduled to arrive next week.

thanks guys,

My tires were part of a wheel package at Wheels Next. Total price was $699 for ADR Visions, 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta 711 tires, mount and balance, tuner lugs and shipping. All included.

Sid,

I'm running 215/40-17 on a 7 1/2 wide rim. My rims have a +42 offset, and I'm dropped on TEIN coilovers, 2 1/2 in the front and 2 in back. I had to run a 3mm spacer in the rear.

so, any problem with the set-up?

i think i'm still going to go with 215/45/17 and hope to have nothing or minimal/fixable rubbing issue.
