Default tire size

Hey snowromance your ride looks great! I'm new to scionlife and owning an xb (06). I am getting new wheels and tires soon. I just installed tein s-techs. My old tires are 215/45/17(they were on it when i bought it). I haven't noticed any rubbing. I noticed you went with 205's. Are you glad you did? How's the ride? Are you close on rubbing anywhere? I def don't want any rubbage. It's so close i'm afraid new tires might touch. What's you opinion?
Thanks

hey exit316! you got any pics of yours with the 215x45 series? the 215x40's are just a tad small for my liking and have the speedo off by 3%. also i have tanabe's (-2.2" drop) on the front so might be slightly lower. will probably order the tires tomorrow and would love to get some pics and/or more feedback re original subject before i commit to the new size. thanks all!

I thought about startinga thread to ask this question, but I figured it tied in with this thread, so....

I just bought a set of ADR wheels (SPADES) and a set of 205/40/17 Nankang 84H tires. I got what I think is a good deal, since the wheels had a couple of very minor nicks in them, from being stacked at the warehouse. Niether the tires nor the wheels have ever been on the road, until I got them. I scored the whole set up for $450. Now, after reading through this thread, I'm wondering if I made a mistake? I noticed a slight vibration at 65mph+, so I'll probably have them re-balanced.

Also, I have a set of springs ( I forget which brand) that should drop my xB about 2".

Any input?

P.S. For what it's worth...I really like the way the wheels look!

Sorry no pics yet. I am after ride quality as well as a nice look. I drive mine quite a bit every day so I figured I wanted more sidewall. I see where many are going with 40 series. I know theres not much difference in the look between a 40 and 45 but since mine already had the 45's, I'm used to them and I like them too.

barnett....the pics of my box are nitto 'neo-gen's' and are 215 x 40 x 17". those pics were with TRD front springs and i now have tanabes at the front (at 2.2" drop), but they still don't fill the well. but just caused you asked, they have never rubbed anywhere. sorry, don't know the offset. oh yeah 33,500 miles on 'em too but that is mostly interstate, but around town i corner hard.
