28" Wheels on a '06 XB
I currently have 20"x7.5" wheels on my xb. I was wondering if anyone new all that would be involved with making the xb accept a 28" wheel.
I will want to keep the distance from the bumpers to the tire the same.

Also, if anyone is interested in taking on this task professionally, please let me know. Otherwise, any suggestions would be helpful. I have not yet chosen a wheel for this application, but I do want it to be a 28" wheel.

Lift, Spacers/lug adapters, extended bolts..
what else, especially, what about the body work, what would be involved with that, and stress on the transmission? Can anyone help me about those?

um, i'll 2nd that ^^^^ but to each his own, look what's going on in the dirty south, i'da never thought jacking up an old chevy 3 feet off the ground and running 24's would be something anyone would want to do,,,,,,,,, BUT........lol, it'll be like the off spring of a mini and BIGFOOT......

Anything is possible but the amount of money you would spend on it would be ridiculous. You would completly have to tube out the rear totally custom rear suspension probably air suspension so you could lift it in the air for it to move. The whole front suspension would also have to be moved up and totally custom, im not sure it you would ever be able to actually turn wheels without hitting the engine because you would have to remove all innerfenders. If you really wanna look into doing big wheels on the xb i would try for 22's as far as i know know one has done it. The rear could be done fairly easy and also the front. With 28's you would need adapters or a specializel custom drilled wheel also im not sure if the xbs transmission would last long at all trying to move those. If you can do it props to you and be prepared to pay a shop about 2x if not more than what you payed for your car.

Greg pretty much has it there. A 28" rim even with a 25 or 30 series tire would be damn close to impossible to drive. Not only would you have to tub the rear, but you would certainly need to cut the fenders and quarter panels too. Hmm, inner fenders would need to be simply removed.
Also, you would probably need to find a fairly narrow 28" rim. I don't even know if they make them in a 7.5" or 8" width.
Going with a 22" rim would be a trick in itself and in my opinion would probably be about the biggest drivable size you could work on an xB without MAJOR rennovations (including engine placement).
If you do change up the wheels for bigger ones you need to upgrade the brakes all around. The stockers just won't cut that ever.
Good luck on the project!

28" would be absolutely ridiculous. You would have to seriously lift the xB. Your driveability would be crap. You would have problems with your steering, axles, transmission... everything.
If you want to put a wheel that looks ridiculous anyway, without as many problems look into 22s. If you are serious about it, PM me. I can probably put you on the right track to running a set of 22s.

Uhhh...yeah......Pretty rediculous idea but.... I think he is going more for the DUB city toy look right? Which is impossible with 28's. If you were NEVER going to drive it and it is just for tow and show then 24's might be able to tuck with major cutting and welding. Again JUST for looks not driving.
