Default 42 offset question

I was looking on wheelmax.com at the 17x7 wheels they had available and noticed that a lot of the styles I like only come in 42 offset. I was running 40 offset with a 17x7 wheel w/ no spacers. I did end up buying the OTG rear spacers but have not installed yet. I guess I am just curious as to who is running this offset w/ and w/out the rear spacers? Anyone have pics/thoughts?....please share.

Thanks.

I'm running 18x7.5 with 42 offset, 215/35 tires. I am dropped 2" (Spy Drop springs) with 15mm spacers up front and the 10mm OTG hub shims along with 10mm OTG spacers out back. It looks really nice, handles awesome, very good stance without camber (it's a daily driver). I don't rub for the most part; I rub a bit in the front when my wheel is turned all the way to the right, but nothing that keeps me from doing it. I might be able to go 5mm more both front and back, but it looks good enough for me not to want to risk slicing into my tires (and I don't want to roll my fenders). I don't have pictures at the moment, but if you really want to see, I can try to get some.

The wife's box is 18x7.5 with a +45 offset. No drop right now, but we do have the OTG rear spacers installed. No rubbing whatsoever. The spacers definitely helped in the rear to help clear the shock's dust cover. We should also be ordering and installing some Tanabe DF210 springs soon.

Thanks guys. I am currently dropped on H-techs so I am not really worried about rubbing or anything like that. My only frame of reference is the +40 I was running before w/out the rear spacers. I ordered the spacers to bring out the rear wheels a bit to give it a more flush look. I didn't want to cancel out the rear spacers I am going to install by going with a +42 offset wheel you know what I'm trying to say here. Is this a non issue and I am just over thinking this?

Assuming your last wheel (+40) is the same width as your new wheel (+42) and you are adding the OTG spacer, you will see 7.525mm less offset in the rear as opposed to 9.525mm less offset. So how much is that 2mm? Just over 1/16". Or about this wide... > <.

So the short answer is... you won't notice a difference between a +40 and a +42 offset on the same width wheel.

This is what 17x7.5 et45 looks like... have 10mm shims AND 5mm spacers in back, nothing up front. No rubbing at all with 215/45 tires.

17x7.5 +42 is that a must have spacers setup? I know it will probably be pretty close.

well with +45's it was mandatory for the rear. +42 would def be pushing it...

I'm running 19" X 7.5 45 offset no problems. I put on a set of 10mm spacers on the back just for the look.
