Default Anyone riding on Nitto Neogens?

I'm looking at getting some new tires in the 215/45 17 size for a good price and I'm really liking the Neogens. Only problem is I've heard nothing but bad stuff about Nitto. For the same price I can get some Falken Ziex ZE-512s but the Neogens just look so damn sweet. I can't fnd a single review for them on the web, so I'm hoping to get some feedback from my fellow Scion people. Anyone with those tries please pass along your experience before I drop 400+ dollars on these tires. Thanks!

I've been running 215/40-176 Neogens for the last 22k miles, and have had NO problems w/ them. Good tires, good grip, good price. I still have over half tread on them.

I ran NeoGens for a while. They plain suck *****. Squeally little things and the grip isn't that hot compared to a real performance tire. My current tire is the the Yokohama AVS ES100, NeoGen can't touch it. Another suggestion is the Toyo Proxes T/1S.

Note that neither is an all-season, so if you're in an area that sees frequent snow and ice and aren't willing to run dedicated winter tires at those times (even though you should), I wouldn't advise any of these three.

i agree with essvid, nitto makes horrible performance tires. they may seem great compared to your stock tires, but compared to almost anything else in their catagory, they're mediocre at best. a great performance tire for the price is the falken azenis sport, the downside is that they don't do great in rain and don't have the best treatwear, but they without a doubt offer the best performance for the money. neogen's look cool, but that's about all they have going for them. if you live somewhere that sees a decent amount of rain (so cal not being that type of place) i'd consider the ziex's you mentioned.

Hey I appreciate the feedback. Looks like the Neogens are a no-go then. It's a shame too, becasue those are some sick looking tires. I live in the Southeast where rain comes in a decentt amount but it hardly ever snows. I'm leaning towards those Falkens, but I'll give those Toyos and Yokohamsa you mentioned a look. Thanks.

I'm running Nankangs on my 18's and they have really surprised me with how good they are for the money. You can get them on eBay supercheap. I've had them on for 6000 miles in rain and snow and have not had one problem.
Just thought I'd give my 2 cents.
