Default To avoid damage to your wheels - read this !!!

I was a little lazy today ... but needed to wash the Box. So, I thought I would save a little time and energy and go thru a "touch free" car wash at the local jiffy lube.

Well ... they have these "wheel scrubbers" that come out and "scrub" the wheels automatically. Not really "touch free" after all. Now I have some damage to my right front rim !

I know, I should have known that an automatic wash could damage my box ... ... I just thought that it would be ok just this one time.

My wheels had ZERO damage until today ... not even a hint of curb rash. Now there are 2 places down through the clear and the silver about 1 inch x .25 inch !

So everyone, don't be a lazy idiot like me, baby your box and wash by hand every time !

that happends. im even afraid to go through the hand wash places. the cars are still driven on a belt/rail system. with 15X8s and the way my bB wheel covers (may they rest in peace :-[ )looked everytimei went thru them. it sadens me that i have to make a good 3 hours time to wash and dry my car instead of someone doing it for me. :-(

One of our local club members went thru a "touchless" with her TC the other day before a show and got 2 rims trashed. I won't take my car within 50 yards of a car wash ...unless it is one of those feed it cash and do it yourself spray wash jobs.

Last time I went to the touchless, the underspray soaked my intake filter and knocked me out of commission for a couple hours... coulda been way worse, but I'm hand washing from here on out.

i got a dent on my roof in the back from going thru one of those automatic washers with the big spinning scrubber thing. I DID NOT LIKE IT....i got home and dried off my honey baby....and saw that she was hurt...NO!!!! I don't put her into the torture chamber anymore. One time is the last time. All by hand now. Thank goodness!

Handwash is the way to go. My baby is NEVER going thru the carwash. I just about had a heart attack when my mom told me she went thru one in it. Luckily, there was no noticable damage.

yup ... its wierd that you go somewhere and PAY to have your box damaged !!!!!!! WTF ? Anyway ... gonna get some tough up paint and at least cover the rim rash. It won't be that noticable if I cover it up ... will probably rust and will have to re-do it from time to time. BUT, I will ALWAYS hand wash the box from now on for sure !

I have used the Laser Wash system for years on all my cars. I used to be a "hand wash only" kinda guy, and I still do most the time. But this system is great for touchups in between and is "totally" touchless. My cars come out spotless and damned near completely dry.

I've been a convert for some time.

I work a wash, and we gotta move your car through some how, I usually tell the nice people with the nice rims, not to risk it.

Default I love touch free

I only go to touch free. The one I go to is truely touch free. Nothin' touches the car except soap, water, and air. Also the car does't move on a track. You park it inside. If you can find one like that I would go.
