Axis OG OLDSKOOL

Out of curiosity, could you run a 195/55/15 on that rim or would you be looking at a 205/50/15. 15x8 is pretty wide, and when I get wheels next spring I want to keep it as close a possible to the original height of the tire. Those rims are most def on my list of possiblilities.

Use this link:

You can put in different tire sizes and see the exact dimensions of width, sidewall, and reccomended wheel size.

I have a set of 15 x 8's. I run a 195/55/15. Of course that calculator isnt going to recommend it, the tire isnt recommended for a wheel that wide. They hardly have much of a stretch. Ive seen several people with 15 x 8s with the sizes you are thinking about running and it looks a little dumb to me.

Thanks for the input. I will keep that in mind. I have until next spring to decide what I am going to do. I am not getting wheels while the snow falls from the sky and the salt and sand fall from the MNDOT trucks.

The axis seem to be a good choice considering price and fitment. I have a good 4 months of snow coming, plenty of time to wait for a good deal to pop up

I am excited to see what some people achieve. Post pictures please when you have them. Should these wheels fit without any fender rolling or flares like the 002s? Another question I have is what size tires will work with a wheel this wide? I can't find any tires to stay close to the height that are made for an 8 inch wide wheel. Maximum I have found is 7.5 inches. Does this mean that stretching is inevitable? Will the tires last if stretched or do they wear unevenly?

"stretching" does not cause wear issues, more safety issues. In my own experiences tires that are really stretched cause wierd changes in the cars handling, as well you run the risk of blowing the tire off the rim if you hit a pothole.
Trust me I know, I once build an 86 olds cutty with hydros and 13" daytons. Tires were like 185/70/13. they were stretched to the max, and every pothole I did not avoid caused a bubble in the sidewall.
Oh and putting a tire made for a 7.5 rim on an 8 rim is no problem. That is not really a stretch. It will look good!!!
