Bling Trim help -- Paint, and Centercaps and Lugnuts.
Hi, I am trying to make some bling trims on my 14inch stock xB steelies.
I want to pretty much replicate this
"
What is the best paint to use to get that tone of red? How does the primer affect the color?
I have also been struggling to find the centercaps that are NAPA; Part No. 730-2411. I live in NorCal, any body know how i can get these parts? Can someone get the part for me and ship it to me = .
Also, i want to replace the stock lugnuts. However, a friend was telling me that aftermarket lugnets on the stock steelies will damage the threads on the studs. Which kinds of studs do i need?
I'll update you guys on the progress as i go along, hoping to meet more of u xbers.
Thanks,
Sameer

First thing, xB's come with 15's stock.
Second, Zach's xA (the one pictured) has a lot of prep and paint work on those wheels. He has a whole write up somewhere of how he paints. I'm too tired ot searc right now, but it's somewhere here or one of the other Scion forums. There are also a few pretty good painters on SL that would not mind helping you out with pointers.

Info....
Yes, the lug nuts are cone shaped. 60 degrees. See the link below:
http://www.summitracing.com/search/Brand/Gorilla-Automotive/Product-Line/Gorilla-Lug-Nuts/Thread-Size/12mm-x-1-50-RH/?Ns=Rank|Asc&autoview=SKU
Size for us is: SCION ALL 04 up 12 x 1.50
The center caps are available at any NAPA parts store. There is one right here in New Bern, North Carolina. You do not disclose your location so I have no idea where your local NAPA store is. Google NAPA Auto parts to find out.
Then contact them and ask for the BALCAMP CATALOG part # 730-2411
They might ship them to you.

Zillon (owner of the car pictured) has a whole write up here:
http://team-ist.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1371
You can post there and ask him what paint he used for the red color.

As for the Beauty/trim rings, do a google search for "Hubcap Annie"
and get the stainless steel ones... will last a lot longer than the cheepie chrome .
BTW. my rims are powder coated
and this is the wife's.... powdercoat isn't quite the color that the sample displayed..(OOPS!)
